US441/Newfound Gap Road is currently closed on the Tennessee side between Sugarlands and Newfound Gap due to a landslide. However, the road remains open on the North Carolina side between Cherokee and Newfound Gap. For more details, please visit the NPS website.

Cades Cove
The 11-mile loop drive around Cades Cove is the culmination of all the fantastic things about the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and one of the Park's must-do areas. This fertile valley is surrounded by beautiful Smoky peaks, and its idyllic setting and conditions attracted the earliest of European settlers to the region - a place where the Cherokee enjoyed fruitful hunting and foraging. As you tour the loop, we have the opportunity to visit historic cabins, churches, mills and barns. Always keep an eye out for black bears, deer and wild turkeys, which are frequently seen.

5.00The stories were great. Make sure you stop at the visitor center first so you can park when they suggest a trail to explore. On the day we did the tour, the wether at the top was very rainyand cloudy, we were lucky that by chance when we continued our trip the next day GPS took us along the same road so we were able to see what we missed and knew what we were looking at.

4.00We enjoyed the Self-Guided Audio Driving Tour in Great Smoky Mountains. The audio guide was informative and entertaining. We did the Cade's Cove Loop today, and the drive through the mountains was beautiful. It was a nice, relaxing way to spend a few hours. The admission fee is very reasonable for your own personal audio guide. The fact that it uses GPS to determine your location and synchronizes the audio to your location makes it completely effortless.

4.00It took me a while to figure out how it worked. It was easy to use once I figured it out. It was hard to use, because we were talking so much in the car that I didn’t want to interrupt our conversations. Don’t miss Daisy town an early 1900 resort town in Elkmont. We did not have time to see all we would have liked to see, but can use this app again when we come back.

A must have for maximizing your Smokey Mountain tour. We used this as we ambled through the mountains and it was great.

1.00We tried to take an audio tour of the Smokey Mountains beginning outside Gatlinburg, TN. I had a great deal of difficulty getting Viator audio to work. Once we started into the higher elevations the audio quit. I do not think it had anything to do with the higher altitude because Viator had loaded on my phone. Viator provides a help line. However, the people who help do not speak fluent English. Then I lost all cell phone conncection because of being in the mountains and was disconnected form the customer service representative. Therefore, I was not able to use the Viator tour. Viator may work very well for other tours.

5.00We loved this tour. Being from Arizona, we had never been to the Smokies before. Our time was limited to 6 hours. The tour descriptions we downloaded allowed us to choose what areas to visit. We loved all the tidbits of information that we heard along the way. The tour guide gave us some great suggestions for when we come back (and we will).
