A private lesson is the best option if you want more one-on-one time with the instructor. Private lessons are best for children between 5 and 14 years old, intermediate surfers that want to step it up, or even beginner surfers that require extra instruction.

What To Expect
Check In will be 30 minutes before activity start time. When checking in you'll fill out our waiver forms. After filling out the form you will then change into your surfing gears. We will provide the water shoes and water shirt for the lesson at no additional cost, if you don't have one. Semi Private lesson includes safety presentation at the start of the activity time. Where we explain with a visual presentation of water safety, water etiquettes, paddling techniques, proper positions and other proven surfing techniques. Then will go to the beach to do land and water demonstration. During your surf lesson our professional surf coach will teach you some applied theory about surfing. The surf lesson will be adapted to the skill level of the students. No surfing experience necessary.

Fun Surfing Experience at a Great Price

5.00We had a nice time with the semi-private surfing lesson in Waikiki! There were only 3 of us in the group. Peter was our instructor, and he made the two-hour session fun and educational. The lesson felt very personalized, and the competitive pricing made it even better.
First surf in 30 years

5.00This time we tried surfing for the first time in 30 years! I signed up for the lesson with a feeling of anxiety and a desire to ride the waves again. Mr. kalani was in charge. They responded in Japanese and the explanation was very easy to understand, friendly, easy to talk to and I quickly lost my anxiety. And because you know so much about the ocean and surfing, it's safety first and recommended for beginners! I was less fit than I expected and it was difficult to ride the waves at first, but thanks to kalani I gradually regained my senses and was able to ride the waves towards the end, and even after returning to the hotel I felt a sense of accomplishment and exhilaration. I would like to regain more physical strength and take kalani's lessons with my son next year.

5.00August 2025. Took a two hour private and semi-private surf lesson with instructors Kalani Tamazaki and Luis Gonzalez. If you have inexperienced surfers or younger kids I think either a private or semi-private is the way to go versus a group lesson. The waves are powerful and daunting and so it could easily become a frustrating experience for those who try to ride with the ocean. But Kalani and Hans made it easier for me and my kids. They are patient yet firm and supportive. My kids were fast learners but it took me a long time to finally get the hang of it. But I did - on the final run back to shore. When we arrive at the school, we watched a safety video and were given some oral instructions to orient ourselves. But the real learning takes place in the water. And that’s where Hans and Kalani excelled. In the end, it was time and effort well spent. I did something that I didn’t believe was possible. Thank you folks.

5.00My adult son and daughter did semi-private urfing lessons with Hans Hedemann and had a great time! The staff were so attentive and helpful. The surf instructor was thorough and very good. Both of my kids were surfing and got up several times. The best part was the videos and pictures. They are too far out to really see from the shore but the videos and photos are worth every penny! They use a drone for the photos and videos so you get an amazing look at exactly how the lesson went. I highly recommend this surfing school and don't skip the photos and videos!

5.00Hands down the most magical experience ever!! Myself (51 y/o female and my 2 20 y/o daughters) had a semi private lesson with Nico. Nico is a human you want to meet! He showed us so much kindness, best hype man ever and seemed to excited for us when we got up on the boards. Nico took great care of all of us! From being welcomed into the shop by T, chatting with Kris about videos and pictures to Nico at the lesson - they all showed us the Aloha spirit. I suggest getting the picture and video package - well worth the cost! Thank you all sooo much for the most magical day!

5.00Me and my friend had the pleasure of surfing with Sergio. It was our first time surfing, and we had so much fun catching a lot of waves! We were thinking about renting a board and just figuring it out ourselves, but we are super happy we ended up booking a lesson, as you improve a lot with their pointers, but also learned how to stay safe while surfing around others. Can only recommend!
