Explore beautiful mountain and lake landscapes in one day.
"Haft Kul" or "Seven Lakes" is the name of cascading lakes among the legendary Fann Mountains in the northwestern part of Tajikistan, near Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
A group of mountain lakes amaze visitors with their bright and constantly changing colors. Each lake has its own name: the lowest lake, which travelers usually meet first, is called Mijgon. Next are Soya, Hushor, Nofin, Khurdak, Marguzor (the largest) and Hazorchashma (the highest).
Seven lakes are in the Fan Mountains, in the gorge of the Shing River. Ancient petroglyphs discovered on the shore of one of the lakes indicate that the lakes are quite old. The lowest lake (Mijgon) is located at an altitude of 1,640 meters, and the highest (Hazorchashma) is 2,400 meters. The height difference between the lowest and highest lakes is 760 meters, and the distance between them is more than 14 km.

We will pick up travelers from Samarkand and drop off to Samatkand Note: transportation in this tour to save time due to border procedures is presented in two routes: the first one picks up tourists from Samarkand and takes them to the Jarteppa / Penjikent border (Tajikistan) (back to Samarkand in the evening); the second one takes tourists from the border, where our guide/guide also meets them and then takes them to the Seven Lakes (back to the border in the evening).
Proto-urban site of Sarazm
As we have arrived Penjikent we will visit Sarazm, ancient city with 5500 year old. SARAZM - is the first World Heritage Monument in Tajikistan. This is the oldest settlement (IV—II millennium BC) located 15 km west of the district center of Penjikent, on the left bank of the Zeravshan River. Well-preserved palace and religious buildings, public and residential buildings are of great historical and cultural value. Metal and stone products were found at the excavation site, as well as numerous jewelries made of precious stones and processed seashells. The settlement is located within the Bactrian-Margian Archaeological Complex.

Our tour guide was amiable and helpful. The drive and visit up to the 4th lake were agreeable. However, Sarazm and Rudaki Museum were completely skipped without any explanation. It was not worth the price and the time spent there. We would not recommend it.

I did pay the 230 usd, the most expensice day trip I ever took, and when you just take taxis (one for each country) you can do it for 70 usd, but I want certainty, and that is what this well organised tour gave me. The lakes are very beautiful, the roads up there a bit hazardous though.

Fantastic day trip from Samarkand to Dushanbe taking in the Seven Lakes, our tour guide was named Bobojon, he had great English and was a fantastic guide full of knowledge of Tajikistan The scenery in the countryside of Tajikistan is fantastic, mountain ranges are spectacular, plenty of stops for photos in the Seven Lakes area, going through all the villages in the area was great to see how people live, such a remote part of the world I was impressed with Bunyod Tour as a company, before travelling to Tajikistan I had an issue with my evisa been rejected by the authorities, this was an evisa I submitted myself, I contacted Bunyod Tour and the management advised me how to submit to evisa properly so the visa would be issued to me, about 3 hours after submitting the new application I was issued with the visa I would recommend Bunyod Tour if I ever return to Tajikistan, I really hope to as it is a fantastic country with hospitable peoplr
