As St Paul's Cathedral volunteers, we were offered the chance to have a reciprocal tour of the Globe theatre. Our tour guide was Katie, a lovely young lady, who was informative, knowledgeable and a delight. We'd all like to say a big thank you to her for making our day so enjoyable.

I've not been yet, but the booking process is terrible. No guest checkout, you have to register which is long and complicated. Multiple questions about receiving marketing, then on the next page you have to also actively opt out of marketing - which I thought was illegal. They automatically add a donation which is an unethical dark practice. Password is limited to 32 characters which probably means that it is saved as plain text so I doubt their security is up to scratch. I'm surprised anyone gets through the booking process.

We're so glad we booked this tour! Our tour guide, Vicky, was both knowledgeable and friendly! She made the entire experience worthwhile! (She's also very funny, so she added a lot of humor to her stories and descriptions.) It was fascinating hearing all about Shakespeare, London during that time period, and the theater. She really brought the Globe to life! We were also fortunate in that the actors for A Midsummer NIght's Dream were rehearsing during our visit, so we were able to watch about 15 minutes of that during our tour. Fascinating! After the tour ended, we walked through the exhibit which was also informative. My whole family was really happy that we chose to do this tour. Definitely recommend if in London !

My family and I wanted to see the Globe today, having heard that they have reopened the exhibition. We’ve been coming to the Globe for years and my children have literally grown up with the Globe. The tour guides are always great. Lots of different styles but all very engaging and mostly based in really great research. The new exhibition though is a shadow of its former self. It’s completely lacking in any detail. Lots of huge pictures but no content. Nothing at all about how the new Globe was researched, how it was built, who built it. Nothing about experiments in exploring how plays were done in Shakespeare’s time. Nothing about Shakespeare’s actors. But they do have a weirdly empty section containing a couple of costumes worn by British comedians who have done sketches about how difficult Shakespeare is. There are also a surprising number of spelling mistakes and errors in the panels. It’s quite extraordinary that all the incredibly careful work that went into constructing the Globe; the dedication of the team surrounding Sam Wanamaker; the work of Mark Rylance’s exploration into how plays were done- all completely ignored. I hate to say it, but this is not worthy of the decades of brilliant minds inputs to this project. Where is the care, where is the detail? Sam Wanamaker would not be happy, I suspect.

We went to Shakespeare's Globe as theater fans and the visit even exceeded our expectations. Our guide, Mick, made the visit tremendously enjoyable, with numerous shackles and curiosities added to the explanation of the venue, the company and the entire history of both. In addition, the visit has an extensive exhibition on Shakespeare, the theater and its historical context with many high-quality explanatory texts, images, interactive elements and even short videos of some performances. We were lucky that there were also other activities to do, such as a manual printing demonstration or costumes and props that you could try on, so we were happy to leave the visit. Absolutely recommended.

Really excellent and engaging tour delivered by Finn ( hope I remember correctly ) who plainly loves what he does and revealed his thespian training from the first words . Go , Finn ! The historical background described was as fascinating as the physical surroundings themselves and one could almost smell the groundlings …as in ‘ the roar of the grease paint , the smell of the crowd . ‘🤣🤣 Finn was happy and very able to answer all the questions lit to him by members of the small tour group . Plainly a student of the history of the period as you would be if you lived and breathed it like that . I just wish I could have gone to a performance at the Globe but we were between seasons unfortunately.
