What To Expect
Badlands National Park
This is a narrated tour of the Badlands and Prairie areas. We drive out through South Dakota ranch country toward the Badlands National Park. We stop at the Minuteman II Missile silo to see a Missiles that was in South Dakota for 30 years. Next, we enter the Badlands NP with a stop in the park at the Ben Reifel Visitor Center for about 45 minutes. There are restrooms, a great video about the plants, animals and formations, and displays about the plants, animals, fossils, and early history of the Badlands. We drive the 30 mile loop road to Wall, SD with several stops at scenic overlooks and boardwalks for pictures and views of the dramatic landscapes of layered rock formations, steep canyons, towering spires, and mixed grass prairies. We usually see the prairie dogs, and sometimes see the Big Horn Sheep and some buffalo. This drive takes about 1 hour or more.
We visit the famous Wall Drug Store where you can purchase a late lunch in their dining room. They still have the free ice water that made them famous, 5 cent coffee, homemade ice cream, cake donuts and good food. There is a huge Western art display, 25,000 South Dakota ranch brands burned onto the dining room walls, a silver dollar collection (oldest 1878) and many other shops, historic photos, and displays. After spending time in Wall we drive back to Rapid City.

Badlands Wall Drug Tour and Minute man missile site

5.00Scott was our guide on three tours. He is very knowledgeable of the Lokota and the tours he guides. This Badlands and Wall Drug tour is a must see and do if you know the history of Wall Drug and you are into visiting national parks. The Chrysler van Affordable Adventures uses for tours is immaculately clean and has excellent air conditioning. Scott is an excellent driver. Scott provided snacks and water on each tour we took and we had all necessary restroom breaks along the way. This tour was simply awesome and breathtaking all in one. I highly recommend Scott as a tour guide and booking through Affordable Adventures. The price for this tour is very reasonable given the expert guide we had with Scott and the quality of the vehicle. Scott know the roads in these areas he guides. Special thanks to Anne (owner of Affordable Adventures) and Stephanie (Staff) they were so helpful in the planning of our trip, thank you so much. Folks thus is another must do trip to anyone visiting South Dakota.

5.00I had an amazing time on the Badlands and Wall Drug tour with Affordable Adventure Tour. The views at the Badlands were beautiful, and Wall Drug was a very fun place to visit. A huge thank you to Scott and Ann for their amazing help. Ann was incredible before the tour started.She helped me find the perfect date so I could finally join this trip. On the tour day, Scott was a wonderful guide. He told us many interesting stories about the places and took great care of everyone throughout the trip. He made us feel very comfortable. The price is great and the service is excellent from start to finish. If you are looking for a great trip, you should definitely book this tour. You will love it!

5.00Wonderful experience seeing the Badlands! We were lucky enough to have Bruce again as our guide. He knows all the history of the Badlands and the best places to stop for photo ops. He made sure we got to go to the visitor centers which we loved! So much history and information! The lunch at Wall Drugstore was yummy and fun to visit! Would definitely recommend this tour!

5.00Ann Thompson, the owner, was our guide. A native of the Black Hills, Ann combined her extensive knowledge with personal experience. This resulted in a memorable day for my husband and me. Ann provided historic and geological background while stopping at outlooks of the Badlands with unique formations. We continued to Wall Drugs where she gave us ample time to enjoy their legendary lunch and to browse the shops in the Wall Drug arcade.
