What To Expect
Sigiriya Lion Rock
We are not allowed to fly very close to Sigiriya Lion Rock since it's an archaeological site. Usually, we watch it, but not very closely. Depending on the flight path, you may have a panoramic view of the iconic Sigiriya Rock, a UNESCO World Heritage site, rising dramatically from the surrounding plains.

Enjoy the picturesque scenery of the Sri Lankan countryside, with its lush greenery, vibrant fields, and meandering rivers.

5.00First time in a hot air balloon 🎈 and it was truly a beautiful experience. Our pilot, Mr. Mustafa, was incredibly skilled and confident, making the entire journey feel safe and smooth. He guided us through breathtaking scenic views around Dambulla, making every moment unforgettable. The ground crew was also warm, supportive, and very kind throughout the experience. The ride lasted about 40 minutes, shared with a group of 16 wonderful fellow passengers. To make it even more special, Pilot Mustafa captured and shared lovely footage for us to cherish these memories forever. Floating above Dambulla, surrounded by calm skies and stunning landscapes — an experience I’ll never forget.

5.00Mesmerising ride! The pilot Melih Topac, made the ride more pleasant and enjoyable. Although we were ready for special landing position, he made very soft landing that everyone was completely relaxed. Thanks to the pilot and the crew for interesting memory.

5.00I would highly recommend this experience. We were picked up from our hotel at 5 am and driven to the lift off site where we were given packed breakfast and tea/coffee. The crew started getting the balloon ready and we were soon up in the sky just in time for the glorious sunrise over sigiriya. Our pilot Mustafa was excellent. Besides being experienced, he kept the whole group entertained with his tag line 'Welcome to my world'

5.00The sunrise hot air balloon flight with Sri Lanka Balloon was an excellent experience from start to finish, and I’d recommend it to anyone visiting the Sigiriya–Dambulla area. The early-morning pickup from my accommodation was punctual, and everything from transport to the launch site, safety briefing, and boarding the basket was very well organised, which immediately put me at ease. The crew and pilot were friendly, professional, and clearly experienced, taking time to explain safety procedures and what to expect during the flight so that everyone in the group felt comfortable before take-off. Once in the air, the flight was incredibly smooth and peaceful, and we gradually climbed to enjoy sweeping views over lakes, jungle, villages, and landmarks like Sigiriya Rock in the soft light of sunrise. Watching the sun come up over the Cultural Triangle from that vantage point was genuinely unforgettable and easily one of the standout moments of the whole Sri Lanka trip. The flight lasted around an hour, which felt like the perfect amount of time to enjoy the scenery, take photos, and simply soak in the experience without ever feeling rushed. Landing was controlled and calm, and the team were waiting on the ground to help everyone out of the basket and organise transport back, rounding off the morning with refreshments and a celebratory drink plus a flight certificate as a nice memento. Throughout, I felt that safety and customer care were taken seriously, from the weather-dependent go/no-go decision to the way the pilot managed the balloon and communicated with the group.. Overall, this was a premium-priced activity but absolutely worth it for a once-in-a-lifetime view of Sri Lanka from the air, and I would happily fly with Sri Lanka Balloon again and recommend them without hesitation

5.00Our trip with Sri Lanka Balloon was an incredible one. Pilot Melih was the captain of our balloon that day, and he handled the balloon with ease. The lift off and landing of the balloon was professional and extremely smooth. Because it was such a smooth lift off and landing, our young child was not afraid at any point. It was a wonderful and memorable trip for our child, who celebrated his birthday that day. We got to see a beautiful sunrise over the Kandalama lake, on a slightly misty morning. The views of the surrounding nature, high up in the ballon brought about a sense of peace and calm. We went in Jan and it was a bit of a chilly morning, so do bring a jacket with you!
