Join us for a hands-on workshop where you'll learn the art of cuttlebone casting — a traditional metal casting technique using the bone-like shell of a cuttlefish. Perfect for beginners and jewelry enthusiasts alike, this workshop guides you through all the steps of the process. You can choose to make a pendant, a ring, a keychain, or a small talisman. Carve your desired form into the bone to make a mold. The instructor will show how to properly set it up for a successful casting, and will melt the silver as you watch. You'll put the finishing touches on your piece to create a one-of-a-kind masterpiece with unique texture. Walk away with your own handcrafted item and a new skill rooted in centuries-old craft! *The class instructor will do the actual torch work and casting while the students observe. Please plan to wear closed-toed shoes, clothing that you don't mind if it gets a little dirty, and bring your reading glasses if you need them. This is a 2-3 hour class (depending on the number of participants, it can take a little longer to finish all the castings. Plan for two hours for up to 3 people and around 3 hours for 4-6 participants.)

It was great, and we had no experience at all and our pieces turned out great. Emily was a great teacher.

Emily is very knowledgeable about silver castings. She guides you with advice on design and structure. She is very patient & encouraging. It was thought initially we just do sightseeing on Canyon Rd but we were so glad we took this course instead. Highly recommend!

We both created our own silver souvenir with no experience of our own! Emily was patient and helpful. Her passion comes through.

I can't say enough great things about my experience! Booked this on a whim during a short trip to Santa Fe and it ended up being the highlight of my time there, I'm so glad I went. Perfect choice for locals, solo travelers, or pairs/groups, I can't recommend it enough. Emily was a phenomenal teacher—I've never worked with any of the materials or tools that were involved but she made them all very approachable and I learned a lot along the way. Fun challenge to use my brain in a new way and ended up with the coolest kind of souvenir: one I got to make myself!
