It may seem obvious, but the absolute best part of this cruise was being in the water, seeing the actual reef. The three reef sites chosen by Quicksilver for this particular cruise are quite strategic, and offer a great pay-off for the snorkelers; tons of colorful fish, countless types of coral and anemonies, and even a reef shark! However, once back on the boat, or even before you get in the water for the first snorkel/dive, the crew is not the most communicative. There was no announcements made for when or where to get your lycra stinger suit, and the crew handed out the incorrect sizes to at least half a dozen female snorkelers/divers, causing a traffic jam at the start of the first dive/snorkel while we all tried to go back to the fitting station to size up. There was also no advanced communication about when and where to meet for your particular group's briefing before the first snorkel/dive. After this, we were also told by the instructors/life guards that they would be joining us in the water for a significant period of time, so they could point out a couple of things in the water, including the farthest point we would be allowed to go before being asked to come back towards the boat. While I didn't have a watch on in the water, I would estimate that they weren't in the water with us for any longer than 10 minutes. The crew also asks you to only stay outdoors on the boat while you're wet (which, if you're making the most of this cruise, is 85% of your time on the boat, as you will be wet from the very first snorkel all the way up until approximately 4-5 hours later, after the third snorkel/dive), and the outdoor spaces on the boat are extremely limited/small with very little seating. All-in-all, I'd recommend taking your money elsewhere. We had a much better time with Calypso.

We did Frankland Islands from Cairns, live aboard and Silversonic from Port Douglas on our trip. Among these three, we felt that the experience with Silversonic was most convenient and effortless, despite the day we went was raining and with very strong wind. Silversonic went to the agrincourt reef, which lies far out at the edge of the great barrier reef. The reef is relatively shallow (deepest is 15m) with tall coral mountains almost extended to the surface. We got to see a lot of big and small fishes and variety of colourful corals just by snorkeling (vs scuba diving). Captain tried to drop us off as close to the coral mountains as possible, so that we didnt have to swim too much to get to them. We didnt get to see any turtle or sharks though. The boat itself is very comfortable. The food is nice. Warm fresh water is availabe for quick wash returning from the ocean. The food is very nice too. Highly recommended!

An outstanding day. The three different sites where stunning, transfer time between them was short and the crew made it an easy memorable day for everyone on board. Couldn't recommend the trip more.

Diving the GBR has been on our bucket list and we are so glad we chose to go with Quicksilver. It is an extremely run well business - from the booking experience to the welcome aboard to having all the equipment we needed onboard and plenty of staff to help us in and out of our gear. Even a wonderful hot lunch was included. As experienced certified divers, we were worried that on a large boat that served different interests we might be tripping over snorkelers or put in groups with new divers who might require all of the dive master's attention or disrupt the flow of the dives. Thankfully, that wasn't the case at all. Gordon guided only us and and a few other experienced divers on our own route pointing out clown fish, sharks, giant clams and so much more along the way. He made us laugh a lot as well while setting up and during our surface intervals.

Amazing snorkeling in 3 different locations with no other tour groups or boats. We lucked out with the weather being that it was January so it was a perfect day. Equipment was good quality for a tour company, stinger suits good too. Plenty of food provided with snacks and buffet which is great after lots of swimming. Staff were great and super helpful and friendly. Would recommend to anyone and do it again if I’m ever heading back to the GBR.

Bucket list trip for sure! The boat was extremely well appointed and comfortable. Staff was friendly and fun. Moni was our dive instructor for our small introductory dive group and she was AMAZING!! So informative and calm. I can't say enough great things about her and her ability to manage 4 new scuba divers under water! The reef was even better than I anticipated. This is a can't miss excursion!

Wonderful experience! The crew is obviously well trained, very knowledgeable and super focused on safety. They take good care of both snorkelers and scuba divers, plus feed everyone well.
