Merlion Park
Merlion Park is one of Singapore’s most iconic attractions, located by Marina Bay. Travellers come to see the famous Merlion statue—a mythical creature with a lion’s head and a fish’s body—spouting water into the bay. It symbolizes Singapore’s origin as a fishing village and its name, “Lion City.” The park offers great photo opportunities with the Merlion, Marina Bay Sands, and the city skyline in the background. Visitors also enjoy a relaxing walk along the waterfront, especially during sunset or at night when the lights come alive. It's a popular stop near other attractions like the Esplanade, Marina Bay Sands, and Gardens by the Bay.
Thian Hock Keng Temple
Thian Hock Keng Temple is one of Singapore’s oldest and most important Hokkien temples, built in the early 1840s by Chinese immigrants to honor Mazu, the goddess of the sea. Located on Telok Ayer Street, it was originally by the waterfront, where early sailors would give thanks for safe voyages. The temple is famous for its traditional Southern Chinese architecture—built without nails and decorated with intricate carvings, dragons, and colorful tiles. It’s a peaceful place of worship for Taoists, Buddhists, and Confucians, and also reflects Singapore’s rich cultural and immigrant history.
