It was one of the best days during our South Africa vacation. The organization was professional and the contact with Cliff and Paula very pleasant. The tour was great. We had lots of fun and we learned a lot from Paula. We took great pictures that Paula later sent us via WhatsApp. So definitely recommended!

Access Skeleton Gorge hiking route through Kirstenbosch gardens and follow sign posts to the start of route. Ladders involved. Be careful if route wet. Hike up skeleton gorge to the top of Table Mountain and enjoy the reservoir beach as your well earned resting point before heading to the cable car via Maclears Beacon. Well worth it with spectacular views, and if you time it right you can see the beautiful Disa’s next to the aquaduct. Fair level of fitness required to make it enjoyable. Pack necessary gear for weather and exposure on mountain as it can change pretty quickly and always best to be well prepared.

I hiked up Skeleton Gorge with two friends as we really wanted to tick a hike up Table Mountain off our bucket list! From the get go, the upward trek is relentless, you are climbing steps, rocks and ladders the whole way. There are no easy inclines so we stopped a number of times for water and a quick rest. It’s fairly tough however worth it once you reach the damn and the beach up the top where we relaxed and enjoyed the afternoon sun. Must be prepared for this hike with good shoes, at least 2L of water, snacks, sunscreen, comfortable active wear. Avoid the middle of the day if you can as it gets very hot and make sure you check the weather before heading up. Heavy winds, rain or mist could make it very difficult and potentially unsafe.

Although originally supposed to do the 12 Apostles, the weather did not cooperate so we did Skeleton Gorge instead. Great views and great snacks. Although it’s not an easy hike, it’s not hard either and Cliff will pace you to succeed. Most of all, Cliff is a great guide who knows the terrain and knows what hikers want in a hike. Definitely had a great experience and would highly recommend him to anyone who wants to hike around Table Mountain.
