Amazing Rainforest Journey

5.00The weather forecast was calling for showers most of the day, however that wasn’t the reality. It was sunny and warm (30C/86F). Our Down Under Tours driver arrived on schedule for our self guided tour. Our journey started on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway with 2 transfers between cable cars. The Barron Falls Station provided views of the Barron Gorge and Barron Falls. The Skyrail provided breathtaking views of the Rainforest. Upon arrival in Kuranda, we wandered through the various shops then off to Kuranda Koala Gardens to see various Aussie animals and reptiles – Koalas, crocs, kangaroos and more. After lunch, we were off to Honey House Kuranda then catch the Kuranda Scenic Railway Gold Class back to Cairns. The scenic train ride in comfy seats was lovely and great scenery. The staff very friendly and the snacks very good. Lefthand seats provide the best views. We didn’t have time to tour Birdworld Kuranda. We recommend this excursion. The Skyrail and the Scenic Railway Gold Class provided awesome views and Kuranda was fun and very interesting to wander through.

5.00The train ride was lovely and great scenery. The staff very friendly. Unfortunately, taking the sky rail down was cancelled due to the weather. My recommendation would be to take the sky rail up in the morning and the train down, as thunderstorms are more disruptive in the afternoon, hence having to close down the sky rail.

5.00The sky rail views are amazing. Gold car train back was fun with very comfortable seats and wonderful snacks. Spent a lot of the day looking through village of Kuranda. Butterfly house is a must!

5.00The skyrail was a fabulous journey with stunning views. We opted for the gold class rail journey and this was also excellent. I would say this trip was the best we had for our time in Australia. Its a must if you are visiting Cairns.

5.00Travel by sky rail first, start with a coffee, visit the markets have a bite to eat then catch the train down - that's the best plan IMHO. Worked well for me.

5.00From the friendly pick up to being delivered back, it was a superb experience. My journey was: hotel pick up >> Skyrail >> Kuranda >> Train, which was great. Give yourself time to appreciate all stops on both the Skyrail and train (where I upgraded to Gold class - well worth it!)

1.00We were 4 adults on this tour and each and every one thought it's definitely not worth it. It's a waste of day and money. There are better things to do. Tour company just picks up and drop up. There is no guide. You are on your own. If you really want to go on a trail or train ,buy ticket by yourself and save money I have taken many viator yours, this is the worse.

5.00The beautiful morning skies turned into a very rainy day in the Kuranda rainforest - actually, that’s kinda perfect, yes? A relaxing morning ‘tea’ service ride up on the train; we walked into the village and took cover in the soulful, butterfly sanctuary - then got drenched headed back early to the Skyrail for the foggy, eerie trip down - but still all so beautiful! There is an extensive gift shop and covered areas to sit outside but we chose not to wait for our scheduled bus (1-1/2 hours later) so - after letting the tour company know we would not be riding back with them - we jumped in an Uber for $25 USD.
