My daughter and I took a tour with Steven as our guide. Steven was excellent. He is an avid historian and had lots of information about the castle and Ludwig II to share on the walk up to the castle. The only feedback I have would be to shorten the length of the overall tour. We met Steven at 10am, but could not enter the castle until 11:30 am after the all up the hill I would suggest the walk and talk be 1 hour followed by castle tour 1 hour - 2 hours total, then walk back down the hill. We did not wait for the free carriage ride with the horses - which would have been cool!

We waited too long to get tickets to Neuschwanstein and opted to do this tour to be sure to see the castle. We started in Murnau and bussed to Hohenschwangau which was an adventure in itself. Our tour guide Steven was an excellent communicator, contacting us with an updated meeting spot and time. It snowed on our tour day ( and the carriage line was about an hour) so we opted to walk up; Steven took into account the steepness of the trail ( and--ahem-- our ages) and broke up the trail with stops and stories of Ludwig II's heritage, kingship, and legacy. We had maybe a minute's wait to enter the castle at the top of the hill: perfect timing. The first set of spiral stairs to get to the audio guides/ beginning of the tour was heart rate raising ( my vo2 max is about 140 and I was in 150+ territory at the top). The audio tour is about 35 minutes and you see servants quarters from a hallway, a hall with Saga/ Edda murals, the throne room, the bedroom, a grotto, the dressing room, the king's signing room and the singer's hall. Everything is just beautiful and you can see the opulence that Ludwig hoped to achieve in totality. Steven's advice about WC's was invaluable -- they were in several places and much cleaner than those exterior to the castle ( iykyk). He met us after our tour and told more extraordinary stories about Ludwig's mysterious death, and his sponsorship of Richard Wagner while we waited for the horse carriage down the hill. We highly recommend this tour and Steven was an excellent, entertaining guide. His knowledge was vast, he knew many of the folks at the carriage drop off/ pick up and the entrance turnstile, and his historical stories were scaled appropriately for those who may get distracted by too much history. 100% recommend the tour and Steven.

Amazing castle & tour. Don't miss it. Our guide Stephen (Steven?) showed amazing depth & breadth of knowledge re:castles, Characters, and related history. Also helpful for tourist points for bathrooms (WC), shops, and local dining.

An absolutely unmissable experience. The tour to Neuschwanstein Castle was excellent from beginning to end. The organization was very good, with clear schedules and enough time to enjoy the place at a leisurely pace. The castle is simply spectacular, it looks like something out of a fairytale, and the views of the surrounding area are increíble . The guide was very professional and explained the history of the castle and King Ludwig II in a clear and engaging way, making the visit even more interesting. The transportation was comfortable and well-coordinated. I definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area; it's absolutely worth it. Thanks Stephen ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We had Steven as our guide and lemme tell ya’ll when my family comes and visits I’m booking the same experience again! It was a really nice walk, my boyfriend and I were surprised at all we learned from the castle and how we had just enough time to take in everything. Plus the stories Steven told were great my favorite one was the one about the dragon. See you again next year!

I had initially worried this would be an overly-crowded tourist trap where we would be rushed through a very impersonal tour amidst throngs of people. I was so wrong. We had plenty of time to soak in the many wonderful views of the Schloss, as well as the interesting stories from our fantastic guide, Stephen. The crowds were not as I had feared and overall we had a very pleasant and informative tour of a rich piece of Bavarian culture.

A-Travel via Viator was an excellent excursion! Stephen our tour guide was quite knowledgeable not only about the castle but also of European history. He looks like he enjoys his job and made the tour quite fun with his vivid storytelling and humorous personality. I would take another tour given by him!
