  • Fun tour with Takashi

The tour with Takashi was fun and interesting. He’s an excellent tour guide and is fun to be with. The Uji Matcha Museum gave insight as to Uji’s significance in all things tea. Takashi took me to several temples and provided understanding of how Shinto and Buddhist beliefs infuse the lives of Japanese people. I was the only one on the tour which was lucky for me since I felt a bit wobbly on the bike so we could switch to walking. After we were done I wanted to try a matcha drink. Takashi took me to a lovely tea shop off the main street that I never would have found on my own.

If you are looking for something unique to do tour wise on your Japan Trip, then this is highly recommended. What a wonderful time it was to bike around Uji with our guide Takashi, who would inform us of all the areas we stopped at. UNESCO world heritage sights, museums, and even give insight on places to get great souvenirs and treats! It's definitely a welcomed break from walking around as well, while still being able to get a full day in!

I’m coming to the end of my travels in Japan (Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto) and this was my favourite tour of the whole trip! As a big matcha fan, I was very excited to visit the famous Uji. It was so much fun riding the Brompton bike - we cycled at a relaxed pace, down quiet streets and along the river, amid the backdrop of lush green mountains. The scenery was stunning and Takashi introduced some beautiful spots (river views, temples, shrines and matcha cafe) that I would never have discovered by myself. Takashi shared lots of history about the area, and answered all my questions - especially in the Tea and Byodo-in museums where some of the exhibitions were only in Japanese. The day absolutely whizzed by and I was sad when it ended, as I was having such a wonderful time. Takashi recommended a great matcha shop for me to visit afterwards, where I bought some authentic matcha goodies. Thanks Takashi, and I hope to take another Brompton tour when I next visit Japan!

This off-the-beaten path tour was delightful, even in hot summer weather! Riding along the river on shady paths, learning about tea cultivation, visiting peaceful temples and shrines (not overcrowded with visitors!) made for a wonderful way to experience Uji. Takashi was a very kind, knowledgable and patient guide, whose background in history enriched our trip! He took the time to answer all of our questions as he took us around each site- we appreciate how he shared his passion for biking and Japanese culture. I highly recommend this bike tour!

Absolute MUST-DO! An unforgettable experience with Takashi who is the kindest guide. We loved visiting the tea museum together and had such a beautiful day spent touring Uji and experiencing the magic of hidden temples and breathtaking landscape. We were there during cherry blossom season and it was marvelous. Takashi took his time to introduce us to a number of historic sites and precious viewpoints. Thank you so much, Takashi-san, you are a treasure and so is your tour.

My husband and I booked this cycling tour as part of our honeymoon trip to Japan, and it exceeded all our expectations! Takashi is a very kind, experienced guide and he made our trip to Uji unforgettable. We cycled to many unique locations like the Asahi Dam, Byodoin Temple, Kosho Ji Temple, and the Uji Shrine. I highly recommend booking this tour if you’re traveling to Uji, or really anywhere Takashi provides tours.
