Hveragerdi
The first stop of the day is the town Hveragerði, where we have a short restroom stop. Hveragerði is about 45 min drive from Reykjavik. There are restrooms, a bakery and an exhibition about earth quakes. Consider this a short pit-stop on our way to the Golden Circle.
Gullfoss Falls
Gullfoss, is one of the most famous waterfalls in Iceland. It is powerful and tall. Through it the river Hvítá, which is a glacier river originating from Langjökull, plunges down this two step waterfall. There are a handful of viewing platforms to observe the waterfall and above Gullfoss there is Gullfoss center where there are restrooms, a cafeteria and gift shops. NOTE: The path leading all the way up to the waterfall is closed during the winter season.

Despite bad weather (cold, rain, snow, wind) the tour was good and the guide was also. He didn’t talk the whole time, only when he had nice things to point out. Some guides never stop talking. I had taken a similar tour in 2017 in the fall so the different weather was interesting!

Our tour driver, Guna, was wonderful. She was very informative, thoughtful and kind. She was helpful to those that needed assistance and also did a good job of corralling stragglers who didn’t return to the bus on time. We came in March and there was unexpected extreme snow and she did a great job navigating the terrain and keeping us informed. Great experience overall. Only thing to note would be that the description says there is Wi-Fi and usb charging on the bus - there was Wi-Fi but no charging ports in our specific bus. I didn’t need them but heads up to not count on having charging capabilities.

This was an excellent tour. It really makes a difference to be in a small group. The locations visited were magnificent: Kerið Crater Lake, Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir Hot Springs and Thingvellir National Park, as well as a stop to see some Icelandic horses close up. Tom, our guide, was well informed about the natural sites and life in Iceland. Highly recommend!

We really enjoyed all stops on this tour. The Gullfoss Falls are amazing - huge & beautiful, the biggest & most impressive waterfalls. The walk in Thingvellir National Park was lovely with great views. Visiting the crater & Geysir was so interesting too. Whilst it seems like such a long day, when you are actually being ferried around you do get plenty of time to rest between experiences & plenty of restroom & food breaks.

This is one of the most informative tours i have been on. It was along day but the tour guide was phanominal, as he had moved to iceland after his studies, so knew his stuff.the views where incredible. I would happily do this trip again. The only thing that was annoying for us was having to put on and take off our coats as it was cold with the snow lol.

It is a long day, and the sites covered are a great mix, the drive and scenery between each attraction are worth a mention as it gives you a good feel for the place outside Reykjavik.
