Thingvellir National Park
We’ll take you first to Thingvellir National Park, where you will see the astonishing spectacle of continental plates tearing apart. Here you can stand with one foot in America and the other in Europe, on either side of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. Thingvellir is a place of great historical and cultural significance for Icelanders. It’s where its first parliament met for a thousand years, as chieftains would gather to make laws, dispense justice and settle disputes. Some were even executed in the “drowning pool”!
Geysir
The next stop on your Golden Circle tour is Geysir, the highlight of the Haukadalur geothermal area. Bubbling with “hot spring” activity, this is the place that gave geysers all over the world their name. The “Great Geysir” has fallen silent now, but another spouting spring called Strokkur is just a few meters away. Strokkur is an “old faithful”, erupting every few minutes, sending fountains of superheated water high into the air. You’ll smell the sulfur in the air, and you’ll sense the phenomenal power of nature boiling under the surface of the Earth!

We did the Golden circle/sky lagoon day tour with Guide Walter. Despite the challenging weather we had a fantastic experience. Walter was very knowledgable and inclusive, including all of the bus even the guests sat at the back which does not always happen. The roads were seriously challenging due to some harsh weather but we never felt in danger. Information given to us throughout the trip was both informative and useful. A truly memorable day finished off with the fabulous Sky Lagoon, highly recommended. Thank you Walter and Nice travel for a truly fantastic experience.

The guide me and my family had was a man called Walter and there’s nothing to be said about him other than excellence. Pure and utter excellence. Safe to say the whole experience would not have been anywhere near as good as it was without him.

Amazing experience despite very tumultuous weather. The highlight is definitely finishing with the Sky Lagoon. Walter is a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. Points for being a Man Utd fan as well.

My wife and I recently did the Golden Circle tour followed by Sky Lagoon and we thoroughly enjoyed every part of it. We would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Iceland. The Golden Circle was brilliant from start to finish. Thingvellir National Park was a real highlight. Walking through such a historic and dramatic landscape, with the vast open views and rugged scenery, was something special. The waterfalls were just as impressive. Standing close to them and feeling the power of the water made it feel much more than just a photo stop. We also visited the famous geyser area which was great to see, and the crater was another standout. The scale, the colours and the setting made it feel really unique. We finished the day at Sky Lagoon and it was fabulous. The setting is stunning and the whole experience is incredibly relaxing. After a full day exploring, sitting in the warm water looking out over the ocean was the perfect way to end it. A special mention to our tour guide Nicola who was excellent throughout. Friendly, knowledgeable and kept everything running smoothly while making the day enjoyable and relaxed. A fantastic experience all round. We would absolutely recommend it.

Amazing tour. Superb guide. Nicola was full of energy, stories and songs the whole way round. A bit like paying for a tour and getting a West End show for free. Really well organised and flowed brilliantly. Would highly recommend.

We had an amazing day and experience visiting the sites of the Golden Circle and ending our day at the Skye Lagoon. We booked this trip as we were only in Iceland for 3 nights and wanted to see many of the attractions. We also booked this particular excursion as we would be travelling in a minibus rather than a coach. The driver was very friendly and knowledgeable and provided us with interesting facts en-route. We had a surprise stop at a small Geothermal Park, which was one of the highlights. Were given boiled eggs, cooked in the geyser and homemade rye bread cooked in the ground, they were delicious. we visited the Kerid crater, Gullfoss waterfall, the bubbling pools and Strokkur waterspout at Geysir and the incredible tectonic rift at Thingvellir National Park. In addition we stopped at a dairy farm and ate icecream made using the milk from the cows. Our final stop was the Skye Lagoon. WOW this is a must. it is natural spring water and feels like you're getting into a hot bath, despite the cold outside. We went onto to take part in the 7 step ritual, this added to our experience and and finished our experience with a glass of bubbly served from the bar in the lagoon. This excursion showed us everything and more, and even though we were on the minibus all day it wasn't a problem as we were hopping on and off throughout the day to look at the sites.
