Walk of 10 km and 290m of elevation gain. Starting from the charming village of Monolithos, you go down for a few kilometers to a small bay of "red" sand enclosed by high cliffs. This wild bay, reachable only on foot, will leave you speechless for its "postcard" Greek beauty. Crystal clear waters and sea breeze are ideal for a short stop before starting the ascent to the castle that stands out in the green valley perched on a rock. Monolithos Castle, built on a 236m high monolith to which it owes its name, was never conquered thanks to its position. Today only some external parts of the fortifications and two chapels from the 15th century remain, as well as the breathtaking view of Akramitis, the island of Halki and the vast blue Aegean. After sunset, the walk takes us back to the village accompanied by dusk.

If you do just one thing in Rhodes, make it a hike. The company not only offers the beautiful Monolithos route we took but also several others worth exploring. Our guide, Manuela, was fantastic—personable, knowledgeable about the trail itself, and full of fascinating insights into life on the island. The beach break for a swim was the perfect way to cool off, followed by a relaxing coffee by the sea. We did this hike on our last day, which was the only regret—we would have loved the chance to join more of their hikes!

It was a struggle but if we hadn't done it there is we would regret it. The place and the view paid off all the effort. Manuela, our guide, knows her stuff and to say that she was fantastic is simplistic. If you come to Rhodes it is a must-do experience!

Our group was just me and my hubby with Manuela. Firstly we were picked up from our hotel. The drive to our starting point was ok. Then we hiked for about 9 km: down to a beautiful beach and then back up to Monolithos to see the sunset. The weather was hot but we had enough breaks to make sure we were hydrated. The beach was really nice. And the sunset was amazing. I recommend this but make sure you have good shoes and you are in relatively good shape. Hiking up and down mountains in hot weather is not for everyone. But we really enjoyed this!

I took part in the hike to Monolithos Castle at sunset. it was a wonderful experience thanks to the excellent organization of Hiking Rhodes. We were a group of around 10 people, of different nationalities but who immediately bonded in great chats making the experience truly unique. Everything planned to perfection, excellent guide (thank you so much Manuela!!) always ready to explain and tell a thousand anecdotes about Rhodes and its history. In the first part of the walk we were taken to a splendid, solitary and hidden beach, and then went back up towards the castle to enjoy the sunset. Really beautiful, even the snack offered, a small detail that you don't expect, but that you then remember.. Truly recommended experience, when I return to Rhodes I will try another of the proposed tours!

We had a wonderful trip to the sunset at Monolithos for four hours with our great guide Manuela. Beautiful landscape and very good organisation with stops to drink and eat and some great place at a hidden beach to swim in big Aegean waves. Beautiful sunset at Monolithos castle and many helpful information from Manuela about Rhodes, it’s people and history. Don’t miss it!

Manuela was amazing. Lovely scenic route, well coordinated, great sense of humour, and a genuinely great time. Me and my cousin are both very happy. Thanks! Manuela even drove me to NewTown afterwards to try and retrieve a lost mobile [I'd upload some photos but they're all on my cousin's mobile]. If I go back to Rhodes again, I'll definitely take another of these tours.

This hike was fantastic! You hike your way to a beautiful secluded beach before making your way up to Monolithos castle for an amazing sunset. Manuela is an excellent guide, sharing tons of information about the area as you enjoy this experience. Not to be missed if in Rhodes!
