Experience two North Island icons on a day tour from Auckland.

Travel south from Auckland to Hobbiton. On arrival at Shire’s Rest you embark on your Hobbiton Movie Set tour. You see 44 hobbit holes, the Mill and double arch bridge and the Party Tree. At this stunning location you can take a photo at the gate to Bilbo’s house, “Bag End”. Finish with a visit to the Green Dragon Inn for a drink.

Following your drink, you will be treated to a sumptuous buffet lunch in the marquee & some time to shop before continuing on to Waitomo.

On arrival in Waitomo, join a 45 minute guided tour of the incredible Waitomo Glow Worm caves. Enjoy the delicate cave formations and be wowed in the Cathedral, before taking the iconic boat rode through the glow worm grotto (subject to water levels). Marvel in silence at thousands of magical glow worms.

Return to Auckland in the early evening.

The tour was well organized. They picked us up where requested and on-time.there was ample time allowed for comfort breaks during the travel to and from Hobbiton and Waitomo. Both venues were interesting and entertaining.
The drive is long. Be prepared!

So glad we did these two tours with a touring company. It can get really busy at both places. Having the tour guide expedited everything. Plus the price from Auckland and back is long.

What a fun experience! Murray, our travel guide, was so friendly, interesting and informative. He made the day. Hobbiton was amazing and not just for a Tolkien fan. The glow worm cave was awesome to see. I would definitely take this tour again.

Hobbiton was all I imagined it would be. Michelle, our tour guide was outstanding. Gave us lots of history and pointed out significant areas as we were driving to and from Auckland.. The caves were interesting, but the staff there was very slow. In the gift shop and in the cafeteria/snack bar it was ridiculously slow and multiple people complaining. The woman in the gift shop asked me if I had kids who could help me understand the QR code on the photos I bought. I’m not that old, Maybe she should be careful what kind of help she offers if she doesn’t know the person‘s age.

Murray, the tour guide was fabulous and fun! The staff at both Ho but on and the Waitomo caves were excellent. Time passed so quickly and enjoyably. It was fantastic ! Well organised and brilliantly orchestrated. Thank you
