The Mekong Delta is the southernmost region of Vietnam. It is often referred to as the rice bowl of Vietnam as it produces three harvests per year. The fertile Mekong Delta is also famous for its tropical fruits and flowers. The delta area marks the end of a 4,500km journey made by the Mekong River after having traveled through six countries. Mỹ Tho is one of the biggest cities in the Mekong Delta, dotted with serene Buddhist pagodas and surrounded by dense rivers. Many great destinations for visitors have been established by the local government and private companies, serving thousands of tourists every day. We recommend this tour for those who want to get an overview of the Mekong Delta for a few delightful hours.

Our guide Luan was really great and made the day really memorable! He was very knowledgeable and even gave us restaurant recommendations on the ride back, 10/10! The minivan and the driver was really nice and the drive from and to Saigon was comfortable and felt safe! However the tour itself, the layout and the different parts felt very manufactured to a large crowd. Unfortunately it was not really what my parter and I was expecting. You get to see the river and some of the delta. But the places that you visit makes you feel like you are part of a massive turist attraction. The extra money spent on being in a small group isn’t necessary because you’re going to be visiting the same places and together with a lot bigger crowds. The biggest disappointment was the lunch and the setting it took place. Hundreds of turist eating next to crocodiles, fishes and snakes kept in tiny enclosures. Not really what I want to support during my vacation.

Our guide Luan was great! Enthusiastic, knowledgeable and very nice. He gave us many tips for food, and made the experience memorable. 5/5 over there! The tour itself was not quite what we expected however. You don't get to see much of the actual river delta, instead you're kind of herded through different sections of manufactured tourist-attractions, ending with a not very pleasant lunch among hundreds of others, right next to the crocodile and fish farms, so you can see how your lunch suffered in overcrowded enclosures before being served. Big or small group doesn't seem to matter, as you likely pass through the same places anyway. The van was very nice, modern and clean, which was great since it takes a while to go there and back. There's not really anything wrong with the experience, but it's unfortunately not very special either. We would rather have liked to see the actual river, its ecology and wildlife, and perhaps seen/heard about how it was used for transport and livelihood during (and mainly long before) the war.
