The scenery begins to change as we increase in elevation and views of the cactus fade into pine trees. As we continue further into Northern Arizona, we will travel the outskirts of the Route 66 town of Flagstaff and from the highway, see the San Francisco Peaks among the seemingly endless Ponderosa Pine Forest, the largest contiguous forest of ponderosa pines in the world.

This tour was great! A long day, but the coach was modern and comfortable, and our tour guide Elmar was super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We got a good amount of time to experience the Grand Canyon and Sedona.

Jay was our tour guide and he was great. Very informative. Learned a ton about Phoenix. Great scenic drive. Added on the Grand Canyon helicopter tour and it was amazing! Book the tour! You won’t be disappointed.

Easy booking and communication. Cost was reasonable and cheaper to book directly with Detours. They also sorted my additional non-US resident government entrance fee for the Grand Canyon National Park. The van ride was long and I was thankful I didn’t hire a car. I could just chill out in my comfy seat in the 13 seater van and listen to our friendly driver and guide Mark L give us interesting facts about Phoenix, the Grand Canyon, Sedona and interesting points along the way. He also kindly let us know when it was chill time when he would stop talking and simply play an outstanding 90’s rock playlist. Mark also kept us on time and pointed us in the right direction in terms of things to do and see at the Grand Canyon (2 hours) and Sedona (1 hour). The change in ecology was very interesting as we left the Saguaro desert landscape of northern Phoenix and entered completely different forest terrain as we approached the Grand Canyon. If you only have a small window to explore the Grand Canyon and you’re staying in Phoenix, I think this tour is a no brainer. I also think it would be good for a family as well with plenty of toilet breaks.

Aldo was an amazing tour guide!! He had everyone introduce themselves, and it didn’t take long before we all felt like one big family. He’s incredibly smart, speaks 8 languages, and knows everything about the Grand Canyon, Sedona, and all the hidden back roads in between. More than that, he inspired us to look out for one another and help those in need. By the end of the tour, that sense of family and compassion truly stayed with all of us.

I had a great day on the tour with Aldo as our guide. We covered a lot of ground and saw some amazing things, namely the Grand Canyon and Sedona, but also animlas like elk and big horned sheep. Aldo was incredibly informative and made the day very enjoyable. The van was clean and comfortable. All around, it was an incredible day.

We were impressed with the punctuality of our tour guide, Mark Lane, starting from the pickup exactly on time and keeping our group on time for the 12 hour day. The information given on the tour about Sedona, phoenix, and the Grand Canyon was insightful and interesting. We only had a day and this maximized our experience to see the Grand Canyon. 5 stars.

Definitely recommended as a great day trip. Due to the distance between Phoenix & the Grand Canyon, this is a long trip sitting - wear comfortable clothes! Good walking shoes are a must as trails down into the canyon are dirt and some rocks to skirt around or go over. Temps are much lower at the canyon, you might need a jacket there. Our driver, Mark, made stops along the way for us to purchase snacks and restroom breaks, although you can bring your own food if you wish. Think about lunch too, as you're on your own for that and prices in the canyon park are higher than you might expect. Mark made sure to have lots of cold water available the entire trip. Our driver was very knowledgeable about what we were seeing as we drove through different geological regions of Arizona, lots of tidbits about the plants, climate and the history of the state and the people who lived there in the past and current folks.

Very entertaining, knowledgeable, & quality tour overall. Mark H., our tour guide, was very friendly while making the group feel welcomed. 11/10 would recommend this company - especially if you get Mark H. as your guide!
