This long day trip really appealed to us as we were only in Phoenix for a couple days and it turned out to be exactly like it was described on the Detours website. It is a long day, roughly 13 hours, jammed packed, but a great opportunity to see the Grand Canyon and Sedona on a limited amount of time. I would not recommend this tour for very young children for obvious reasons. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we would use this tour company again. Everything was well communicated and the staff were knowledgeable and helpful when I booked the trip. Our guide, Aldo, was prompt in picking us up from the hotel and we enjoyed the scenery and his commentary about Arizona and the area as we headed up to the Grand Canyon. On the way there we had plenty of rest stops with opportunity to grab something to eat as the trip progressed. The stops at the Grand Canyon were well-timed and we were fortunate to quickly enter in the park as the entrance line was short. We spend about 45 minutes at two different stops. One was at Yavapai Point overlook and the other was at the Bright Angel Lodge rim. We then stopped at the village outside the Grand Canyon for a quick sit down lunch as others on the tour took advantage of an optional one-hour helicopter tour of the canyon. On the way back for the Sedona portion of the tour, Aldo chose a side road that was stunning. It was a switchback road that descended through mountains and trees with amazing views and brought us into Sedona through beautiful Oak Creek Canyon. We had two brief stops in Sedona. One for snacks/quick look in a couple shops and then on the way out of town at Bell Rock/Courthouse Butte trails for a photo opportunity. The trip back to Phoenix was broken up with a brief stop at Rock Springs Cafe in Black Canyon City for an opportunity to purchase their famous pies, also sold by the slice. They were good!

We booked the tour at recommendation from AI search of top tours to Grand Canyon. We were staying in Scottsdale and wants a tour to take us to Grand Canyon. We were VERY happy with our experience! They picked us up at a nearby hotel (we were staying in VRBO, but the other members of our party were picked up right at their hotel) in a very comfortable 12-seeter van. Tour guide Tracy was VERY kind, energetic, and supportive the entire time. He gave great tidbits of information about the locale, scenery, and history during the 3.5 hour drive up to the Grand Canyon (with a pit-stop in Flagstaff for bathroom break 2 hours in). While at the Grand Canyon, he knew all the best spots to stop at and allowed us picture-perfect views of the Canyon. He had the trip down to the minute, allowing efficient views of all angle of the Canyon while not dragging behind. We were allowed over 1 hour for lunch and shopping. Tracy was always on time and engaging. We then stopped in Sedona for 30 minutes in the uptown area for shopping and engaging with the town for a brief sneak peak. If you're looking for unlimited time to sit and engage with the Canyon, you will have to drive yourself or book the (pricey) Private tour. However this DETORUS tour allows for an expert to drive you to and from your hotel, provide the best spots, and has in-depth knowledge of the best ways to circumvent the traffic and wait times (can be up to 2 hours at the entry gate). you will really only need 1-2 hours at the Canyon; more time there does not enhance the experience all that much.

As mentioned in the description, this is a LONG tour. It’s about a 3.5 hour drive to the Grand Canyon, with a 2-hour stay at the Canyon. Our tour guide was great—he was knowledgeable about the area, and gave us tidbits of history all the way there. My only complaint was that with small group tours, you never know who you’ll be with—the people can be welcoming or very standoffish. On my tour, the other participants weren’t very welcoming. I’m not talking about being inviting or joining them when we were off the bus—I’m talking about conversing with other groups on the bus. Every other tour I’ve done has had friendly people; this one did not. For that reason, which is of course no fault of the company, I would highly recommend NOT doing this tour solo. Of note, I traveled on a Monday, and it’s possible that the weekend groups might be better. I would still highly recommend going with someone rather than doing this 13-hour tour alone.

A great way to spend a day during our first visit to the area. It was a full day starting before 7:00 AM and ending at 8:00 PM but well worth our time. The van had 10 people beside the two of us and was expertly helmed by our guide, Jordan. His commentary throughout the trip was informative, interesting, and entertaining. We would recommend him.

This trip was amazing! Our morning started bright and early with a narrated journey out of the Scottsdale area. Mark, our tour guide, was so knowledgeable and shared the most interesting stories and insights into the unique Arizona landscapes — everything from the science behind the changes in biomes to the legends of the Native Americans. He was extremely informative and entertaining! He has a vast range of stories sure to interest anyone. Along the way, we saw so many sights — from Scottsdale to Grand Canyon and Sedona. It was a full day, packed with beautiful views. My family thoroughly enjoyed the day! **Note: This is a very long day (14ish hours), with a lot of sitting and changes in elevation. I personally recommend taking a pair of compression socks to wear while riding in the tour van.

Mark L. was our tour guide for this trip and he was awesome. As a history buff myself, I was impressed with his knowledge of the area as well as his information about the land itself. In addition, Mark was funny and personable; he also knows the roads extremely well, especially when getting into the Canyon area. We had a great time and learned a lot! I highly recommend this tour.

Perfect opportunity to visit two great spots and check them off your bucket list while staying in the Scottsdale area. Amenities and van, guide Jay, all were fantastic. Plenty to see and Jay was great at narrating which made all the driving easy and feel quick. Went with our teens and they stayed interested, too.
