  • Amazing Tour with George

George was truly spectacular. He arrived promptly to pick us up at the hotel and was incredibly kind to us from the very beginning. He drove us to a strategically chosen spot, based on his expertise, to ensure the best possible experience. This allowed us to see a great number of Northern Lights over three hours. He was very clear in his explanations, and the information he provided was very accurate. He offered us soup, tea, bread, and cookies, lit a fire to warm us up, and had folding chairs available for us to sit on. He also provided gel hand and foot warmers, which were very useful. During the drive, he explained some things about the city, and we were also able to share some of our stories. Another plus is his professionalism as a photographer. He offers a tripod if you need one to take your own photos, but the best part is being able to enjoy the natural phenomenon without having to worry about photography and leaving that task entirely to George. The experience is highly recommended, and his personal touch makes all the difference on a tour of this kind.

George went to great trouble with everything. Careful research where there may be lights and then even a safe and great ride to Finland. He is a very likeable and open person and we had a great time with and through him. Fortunately, after we could see lights, he had even made a fire - hot drink and homemade soup ready for us. Great conversations, great experience, safe rides & great explanations. 5/5 🌟 Thanks & best regards from the Schad family.

We had a great and fun experience with George being our guide. He’s very hospitable, and travelling in a small group does give us the flexibility, especially with a young kid. George ensures we are warm enough and comfortable.

I came to Tromso with High expectations. George at Boreal Quest exceeded them! Thank you for the awesome memories! The tour is brilliantly organised, and George was super helpful from first contact, so I booked 2 trips - one with a group and a second private trip. George had mastered this tour. He knows the area and can read the conditions to head to the perfect spot, away from the crowds. And the early start means you get the best spots. He also knows his photography and can help with camera settings if you need it, and is also happy to share composition suggestions that you can’t easily see in the dark. Then there are the smaller touches like the fire, which is lovely to sit around while eating the delicious home made soup and bread. And we were also given forwarding inserts for our boots, that I didn’t know I needed - amazing - along with super warm arctic suits, which I recommend using - I cold on the first night, even with the 7 layers I had brought! We had incredible lights both nights and I came away with some stunning photos. I will be back!

  • This is THE Aurora guide - I'd give more stars if I could!

This was beyond my (very high) expectations! Having dreamed of watching and photographing the Northern Lights for more than a decade, I finally had the chance. I wanted to have the time to get some good pictures, avoid large crowds, and wasn't keen on watching the lights from a roadside or carpark, so was looking for a tour that fit the bill. George was super helpful and flexible from my first enquiry. I was confident enough from the booking experience to book 2 nights. Night 1 was a small group, and the second night was a private tour. George has mastered this tour. He knew exactly where to go under the weather conditions. Early pickup allowed us to get the prime spot - and we were treated to an incredible light show. And his knowledge of the science behind the Aurora makes the conversation fascinating as we learned how and why the lights behave the way they do. And with the fire, and his delicious homemade soup and bread, when the lights were quiet, we enjoyed the warmth and the food. Then there are the little touches - Foot-warming inserts for my boots were a comfort i didn't know I needed, along with warm arctic suits, which I used on the second night as the temperature lunged. And he knows how to capture stunning photographs and is happy to share his experience there too, sharing compositions that you can't easily see in the dark. I broke my tripod on the way to Tromso, but George had spares there too, so I managed to come away with pictures I could have only dreamed of... And the second night, we headed to a different location for more of the same. Both were exceptional in every respect and exceeded all my expectations. If you like the sound of this tour, I cannot see how you would regret it... Thank you George. I have no doubt I'll ONLY be booking with Boreal Quest when I go back for more!

  • Everything perfect!

We made this trip with our grown-up children (24 and 27) who live on their own so I wanted it to be a special moment for our family. George was extremely friendly and helpful from the first contacts, quickly providing me with all the information I needed. I chose it because it offers tours for small groups (max 7 participants) and this guarantees greater flexibility of movement and an experience closer to nature than large bus tours. Another advantage it offers is the fact that its tour starts earlier than the others and this allowed us to find the perfect place and have it all to ourselves. On the day of the hike the weather around Tromso was very bad and so he drove for three hours to Finland to find a clear sky. I suffer from car sickness but the van is very comfortable and its driving very cautious. It 'was very professional, as well as courteous, because he provided us with everything we need to live this experience in the best way: thermal suits, hand warmers and thermal insoles, hot drinks, cookies and a very good soup. He took so many wonderful photos of us and we stayed to admire the aurora until we wanted, without hurry. During the trip we talked a lot and I appreciated his fairness to colleagues on the other tours and his sincere love for Tromso and Norway. I absolutely recommend it.

Wow, what a memorable night. After a bit of a chase we saw the northern lights in all their glory and my goodness was it magical. The small group setting with the campfire, homemade soup (so good!), hot chocolate and biscuits with the northern lights in the background was incredible. Overall it was an unforgettable experience and my favourite tour I have done to date. George is very knowledgeable, kind and friendly and puts everyone at ease. If you’re thinking about booking this tour, I would not hesitate!

  • A truly memorable aurora evening!

George was super professional and had everything covered - thermal suits, hand and foot warmers, hot drinks and food and a cosy campfire. Bestof all he got us to a great viewing spot about 90 minutes north of Tromso in perfect time. We saw a spectacular lights' display unfold as we arrived, which dazzled us for for quite some time. Once it had faded, we settled around George's campfire, enjoyed delicious soup, cookies and hot drinks and listened, whilst he regaled us with both the legends and the science of the aurora. It was just our small group under the beautiful skies. A truly memorable evening!

George was really professional and friendly and made great effort to ensure we had a super aurora experience. We witnessed a spectacular lights' display and then enjoyed his delicious soup and cookies around the cosy campfire, whilst he regaled us with the legends and the science around the aurora. We were lucky enough to see the lights relatively early in the evening and so all agreed when we ready to head back to the city. It was a memorable evening.

George has been a great guide. My tour was postponed especially to have a better chance of seeing the Northern Lights. With the soup, hot chocolate, fire and George's remarks overall a very round thing!
