Meet your guide in front of the church of San Domenico in Siena at 9:30am, easy to find even if you are arriving from out of town with your own car, as there is parking in the vicinity.

Travel north into the first Chianti hills and take a walk around Monteriggioni, a medieval and perfectly preserved fortress with a complete ring of city walls and turrets built in the 13th century and mentioned by Dante in his Divine Comedy: this was once Siena’s main bastion of defense against the armies of Florence. Enjoy its quiet and charming atmosphere browsing the alleys and shops of local crafts and products, or lighting a candle in the local church as the pilgrim's once did.

5.00Georgia was an amazing tour guide. Her knowledge of the history of the visited locations is amazing and with the smaller group size it was easy for all participants to hear her. The visited locations are beautiful and there was ample time for us to see the highlights (and take notes for future, longer re-visits).

5.00Excellent tour. The highlight was a visit to a workshop to meet Orme and watch him work alabaster by hand. We then had the opportunity to purchase his beautiful pieces. Our guide was first rate.

5.00Guglielmo was a wonderful guide for this trip, so full of enthusiasm for the history of this area of Tuscany. He even slipped in a visit to the third hilltop town of Monteriggioni! His personal stories added a valuable dimension to the trip, and I could feel the care he put into each experience we had: visit to an impressive family winery for lunch, visit to an 83 year old sculptor of alabaster in Volterra, and “the best” gelato in San Gimignano (saffron with orange zest and almonds!). I highly recommend this tour!

4.00Busy day but got to see sights we wouldn’t have on our own. I thought we would have a guided tour of the cities, but we just got dropped off at the gate and told when we would get picked up. We did get some info in the car on the way.

5.00It was probably our favourite day in Siena ! From the moment we met the astonishingly gifted Julia, who was to be our driver and guide for the day, we knew we were in safe hands. Each stop was a revelation and beautiful in very different ways. San Gimignano was the longest stop and wandering the medieval streets, stopping for a gelato and a coffee, was a delight. Volterra and Monteriggioni were equally fascinating. The highlight in many ways , though, was probably our lunch stop at the saffron farm in the countryside. The food, and wine, was exceptional… and the opportunity to buy some excellent saffron products was a bonus. Overall I would thoroughly recommend this wonderful day out, and if you could join a tour where Julia is your guide that would be just perfect!

5.00Lovely trip with a very good guide, Matteo (I hope I spelled it right). Apart from visiting San Gimignano and Volterra , picturesque hilltop towns, which we enjoyed very much, we had lunch at the local winery, Ił Palagione. We had a very good time there over delicious food and exquisite wine , which we ended up ordering . Very classy, beautiful place with gorgeous views and our small group was the only one there. Matteo was very entertaining and , as a former winery owner, knew a lot about wine and oil. We learned so much. We recommend this trip hands down.
