Just thirty minutes from Tromsø, Kvaløya the Whale Island boasts some of Northern Norway’s most dramatic landscapes. After a quick snowshoeing lesson with snowshoes and hiking poles provided, your guide will lead a safe, scenic hike to a peak chosen daily based on weather and snow conditions, making it accessible for all levels.

Enjoy the crunch of fresh snow, breathtaking views, and moments to capture photos or simply soak in the beauty. At the summit, warm up with drinks, cookies, and arctic serenity, some peaks even feature a summit book to mark your adventure.

Your safety is our priority. In case of poor weather, hikes may be adjusted or canceled, but your guide will ensure a safe and enjoyable journey. Bring waterproof boots, weatherproof clothing, and a sense of adventure for this unforgettable snowshoe hike, perfect for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike.

This trip starts early. Unfortunately we cannot provide refunds if you decide to not join us last-minute, for example because you’re tired.

As long as conditions are safe, we take this trip in most types of weather. Please dress appropriately.

After picking you up at the bus terminal, we leave Tromsø behind us and visit Kvaløya (“Whale Island”), where we visit some of the most beautiful landmarks that make Tromsø one of Norway’s most popular destinations.

We had the best time on the snow shoe hike led by Jonas and Michiel who were so friendly and kind. We saw beautiful sights and climbed to the 10 o clock peak with breathtaking views of the fjords. Jonas and Michiel gave us delicious pastries and a warm blackcurrant drink at the top. It was wonderful to be in nature and we received great pictures from the trip too! We had an amazing time, thank you! Charlotte and Oscar from the UK

Huge thanks for the incredible pictures you took for us (we are going to spam our instagram feed) while we were experiencing the beautiful landscape. We had the most wonderful time snowshoeing, truly an unforgettable experience from start to finish. Everything was perfectly organized, and the atmosphere was fun, relaxed, and inspiring. Michiel, Jonas, and Wojtek are simply the best guides you could ever ask for. They are incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and professional, and they made sure everyone felt comfortable and safe while still having an amazing adventure. Their passion for what they do really shows, and it made the whole experience even more special. A huge bonus: they are also excellent professional photographers 📸. They knew exactly when and where to take photos, and the pictures turned out absolutely stunning❤️❤️memories we’ll have forever (see attached photos!).

Meda, Cassandre, Natalia & the Team at Chasing Lights were fantastic! The guides were knowledgable about the area and snowshoeing. They had great vibes! A fun tour that created special memories for me while in Tromso.

Had a great experience on my first time doing a snowshoe hike. Jefta and Meda were excellent in guiding the group and clicking beautiful pictures. The location at Kvaloya had amazing views and beautiful pristine white snow clad hills. Took short stops along the way and they ensured none were left behind from the group. Nice drink and snack towards the end of the almost 2 hour hike. Thanks to the guides and Patryk for driving us to and from the location, highly recommend 💯💯
