It’s was super fun, it was the best way to go through New Zealand. I was en exchange student and had no one to go with, I ended up making many friends. It was my first solo trip and everything was amazing, I discovered New Zealand and I wasn’t alone and being a small group makes it feel closer to people.

As soon as we hopped on the bus on day 1 it was like we were long time friends catching up as the vibe was relaxed but ready for an adventurist week. There were plenty of opportunities to do activities as the whole group, smaller groups as well as solo if you wanted time on your own. Our guide, Ben also new some really spectacular spots to stop over - breaking up the days where we had long drives. My highlight was Lake Tekapo - I took 100's of photos to turn into a painting.

Honestly had the best experience on the Southern Voyager tour. Our tour guide Ben went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a great time. You can tell he loves his job and he knows a lot about NZ history and wildlife, also stopping at hidden gems. You have a lot of freedom to do only activities that you really want to do. Our group size was perfect and a great mix, just a wholesome experience all in all <3

The tour was amazing! Clauds had so much knowledge of the areas and was very easy to deal with. Wild Kiwi made the holiday stress free by organising all the activities for me. The small group is perfect as well. It was an absolute unforgettable holiday!

My tour with Wild Kiwi was incredible – I definitely recommend it! I went on the Southern Voyager tour as I only had one week to explore New Zealand as part of a holiday to Australia too. I was a little apprehensive before booking as I’ve never been on a multi-day group tour before. I’m really glad I did it. It had also been a long time since I stayed in a hostel but all the accommodation was clean and safe in convenient locations to local attractions. Although it was particularly cold during our tour so the in-room heaters were working overtime. I chose the private room upgrade which worked well as I had my own space without feeling excluded from the group. Wild Kiwi offers more premium tours but these dates didn’t line up with my trip. It was my first visit to NZ and our guide Ben made sure it was an unforgettable trip. We saw A LOT in the seven days and despite some long driving days it didn’t feel arduous or tiring; Ben’s energy, local knowledge, and care & attention made the trip extra special. He coordinated a team-cooked dinner on the first night and arranged a cake to celebrate one person’s birthday on the last night. I was pleasantly surprised to find out our group only had four people. This meant the tour felt like a more personal tour. The group dynamic plays a big part and everyone was great – Ben also helped to keep everyone engaged, helped us get to know each other, and let us sleep when we needed a nap on the bus! Besides driving time between locations, the tour also has a good balance of free time where you can choose from a range of optional activities available at different price points (from free to a few hundred $s). I didn’t feel pressured to book anything and we were given helpful advice on what was worth the money, what might be cancelled due to the weather, and how many activities to squeeze into a day. We ran into an unavoidable issue on day one when the main road was blocked due to ice/snow then an obstruction for a few hours. Ben made sure we were updated on the situation, coordinated an alternative route with Wild Kiwi, kept us occupied, and ultimately got us safely to our original destination as planned when the road reopened. Overall, I loved the trip! I saw a tonne of beautiful scenery (the photos don’t do it justice), enjoyed exploring New Zealand’s nature, laughed a lot, and unexpectedly enjoyed Christmas songs on the bus when driving through the snow. I would choose Wild Kiwi again – next time to explore the North Island.

My Nan and I completed the premium trip. It was absolutely beautiful. Our guide Tom was knowledgeable and went above and beyond to help when I left a laptop behind. The accomodation is beautiful. Well organised tour with so many scenic stops along the way. The tour suited both elderly and young adults.

The Southern Voyager Tour was great fun! Our guide, Tom was fantastic. He was very helpful with food/activity recommendations and he shared lots of interesting facts about the areas/attractions we visited, he also happily answered any questions we had about them, from history to geography and more. He definitely knows his stuff! The places we stayed in were comfortable and conveniently located. The tour was organised and thoughtfully planned out.
