This 7-hour tour begins with a trip to Montpelier, Vermont’s capital city—the smallest and least populous state capital in the nation. There, we will enjoy a guided tour of the Vermont State House*, led by a dedicated guide who will share its history and answer questions.
*Guided tours in the Vermont State House are only available from early July through October. The building is closed for visitors on Saturdays and Sundays. Our weekend tours will therefore admire the state house from outside, then explore downtown Montpelier by foot.
While in Montpelier, we will also visit the family-run Morse Farm Maple Sugarworks for a maple syrup tasting.
Next we will drive scenic VT RT 100 to the villages of Waitsfield and Warren. Popular attractions include an 1833 covered bridge ("The Big Eddy") and Appalachian Gap. Lunch is available for purchase at the Warren Store, a uniquely Vermont experience with great local food. The Warren Store features its own deli, bakery, wine shop, and gift store.

Vermont State House
Our tour begins with a drive to Montpelier, Vermont’s capital city. With a population of just under 8,000, it is the least populous state capital in the United States. There we will tour the Vermont State House* with a dedicated tour guide who will teach us some history and answer any questions that you might have. The Vermont State House is one of the oldest and best preserved of our nation’s state capitols. After 140 years, the State House still commands Montpelier, and the House and Senate chambers remain the oldest legislative chambers in their original condition in the United States. * The Vermont State House is closed for visitors on Saturdays and Sundays. Our weekend tours will therefore admire the state house from outside, then explore downtown Montpelier by foot.
Morse Farm Maple Sugarworks
Step into one of Vermont’s most beloved maple traditions at Morse Farm Maple Sugarworks, a family-run sugarhouse just minutes from downtown Montpelier. For generations, the Morse family has been crafting some of the finest pure Vermont maple syrup, using time-honored methods passed down through decades of sugaring seasons. Here you’ll experience the magic of how sap becomes syrup — from tree to tap to steaming sugarhouse — and enjoy generous tastings of golden, amber, and dark maple syrup. Don’t miss their famous maple creemees, a Vermont classic that guests often call the best in the state.

We're so happy and satisfied that we chose Vermontology and was so pleased with our friendly and knowledgeable tour guide, Natalia. Our visits to Montpelier and at the Mad River Valley areas were beautiful and we were given information about so many extras like shopping and delicious things to eat, especially at the Warren Store. Stops at covered bridges, views of ski resorts were so exciting to see.

So glad my husband and I did this tour. Never having been to Vermont as adults, this tour brought us to places we would not have experienced. Natalia was an excellent tour guide because she knows Vermont extremely well. She was extremely professional and our day could not have been more pleasant. The tour van was immaculate, the tour was well timed, and Natalia knew what she was doing to make our day fun and learn about Vermont at the same time!! We will use Vermontology again when we go back next year.

We enjoyed this beautiful tour. Natalia picked us up at our hotel and her Enthusiastic greeting set the tone for the day. We were off on a seven hour tour with her seeing beautiful, colorful, landscapes, and the famous Vermont covered bridges. Through the quaint towns and villages, she described each point of interest. We were staying in Burlington and she had several restaurant recommendations for us. Visiting Simon Pierce Glass was a highlight. Highly recommend this tour.

Brilliant! We highly recommend Natalia's tour. When we booked, only the Montpelier and Mad River tour was still available. This was for the 2nd Saturday in October, in expectation of leaf colour. On the basis of previous reviews, we booked up. And it was worth every cent! Natalia is welcoming, friendly and a real enthusiast for her adopted homeland of Vermont. After an explanatory drive, we met another couple, from Texas, who were to share the day's experience with us. They were good company, throughout, ready to exchange travel plans. Montpelier, the smallest of State capitals, was a pleasant first stop. Its "gold leaf" State dome reminded the Eurovisitor of the Wawel, in Krakow. The real highlights, though, were of the Covered Bridges for which Vermont is justly famed ... but especially the river views out from within their shaded cover: foliage which was a photographer's delight. There were plenty of stops where we could enjoy a leisurely stroll at our own pace. The terrain for these was flat, and not at all challenging ... for which, we were grateful. One stop was for lunch, where we could sample local produce and a refreshing beer. Another was at the Appalachian Gap, a beauty spot which was good for capturing that memorable photo of the two of us :-) . Natalia, who was never short of information, returned us down Route 100 right to the door of our accommodation ("Route 100", previously just a name, is now full of meaning to us -) ): a full day, and a happy day, but still in good time for our evening meal in Woodstock. Thank you, Natalia! dziekujemy bardzo. We hope to see you again, one day. Alan & Sally.

We enjoyed the day with Natalia on tour of a National Historic home, lunch and shopping in Woodstock, and waterfall. But my favorite was the glass blowing exhibit. I would book again!

This was a fabulous tour. Natalia was very friendly and informative. We experienced various things on the tour, from beautiful scenery to charming small towns, as well as the historic state house in Montpelier. It was fun to travel with a guide who is as passionate about her state as Natalia is. I recommend this tour highly.

Natalia has such a great knowledge of Vermont. We so enjoyed our tour. We were her only couple that day, so she was flexible as to how much time to spend in the places we visited. She also gave some great recommendations and tips for things we were wanting to do the rest of the time. The waterfall we saw in Granville was beautiful and the lunch at Warren Store was beyond delicious.

We were lucky to have a private tour with Natalia. She is a knowledgeable and friendly tour guide. She took us to all the best places to visit and gave us great recommendations for the other places we intended to visit on our own. Her love for Vermont and passion for her work made for a wonderful day. Thank you Natalia!
