  We booked two tours with Captain Jak's - snorkeling to Silk and Moho Caye and a day trip to Xunantunich and the inland blue hole. Our guide to Xunantunich was extremely knowledgeable and make the long drive to the ruins enjoyable. When we arrived at the site, he made sure we were prepared for the weather and hike with cold water, sunscreen and bug spray. After the hike, we were provided with cold towels which were a very pleasant and appreciated surprise. The provided lunch was at a local restaurant and was absolutely delicious. On the way back, he offered us stops at a shop for souvenirs and gelato on the return trip but there was no pressure to purchase at either place. The tour van was both clean and comfortable for the lengthy trip. For the snorkeling excursion, the entire crew was friendly and made sure everyone was safe and comfortable. One person in our group had some struggles with the snorkeling as well as getting on/off the boat and the staff provided extra assistance to accommodate . At Silk, we had a leisurely guided snorkel around the island. A second stop was made at a place where nurse sharks are known to frequent. At Moho, you have free time to enjoy the island from the beach or more snorkeling. I recommend the beach - beautiful white sand with turquoise waters. On the boat, we were provided with bottled water and fresh pineapple. Very much needed when spending a day out on the water. Overall, I would highly recommend Captain Jak's for tours in Placencia.

  This was fabulous. It felt professional and safe. I recommend this tour, however I had an issue with my snorkel gear. This may be a personal problem, but I have a short-medium length mustache, and water kept getting in my snorkel from under my nose. I had to just hold my fingers pressed in the snorkel under my nose to maintain the seal. The snorkel guide said that they would recommend putting Vaseline on my mustache to help with the seal, but they forgot it back on shore. My partner with a longer mustache was fine; however, someone else without a mustache complained about water coming into her snorkel, as well. Long story short- I’ll bring my own snorkel gear next time 😎 Silk caye was gorgeous. Moho caye was really nice. The cooked lunch was good. There were guys selling fresh coconuts and rum on Moho, so that was fun. Really nice day!

  We had an amazing snorkeling experience! The entire trip was well organized from start to finish. Our guide, Jonathan, was the highlight—knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely passionate about the reef. He made everyone feel safe and ensured we didn’t miss any of the best spots. Truly an unforgettable day on the water. Highly recommend!

  Angel and Captain D. were really nice and patient with us. We had an amazing time laughing and they made the time better! We saw coral reefs, lots of fish, stingrays and even dolphins. It was a great experience, 10/10 would recommend

  Great on-boat experience but the office was horrible to useless. We changed from Monday to Sunday 6 days prior, got confirmed and was left waiting to be picked up at our hotel. We contacted them via WhatsApp and were told “really”, the “yeah now I see it and didn’t notice the reschedule” which was confirmed and included a pick up at our hotel (on our anniversary no less). So we went a day later and not on a super calm Sunday, then sat around waiting for 30 minutes while they rejiggered one boat into two b/c a family sitting there with us booked a private adventure. The snorkeling was great, their guides were awesome and the chef’s food was inhaled with great joy! If you fill out all Captain Jak’s paperwork and get confirmations… that obviously means NOTHING. It’s obviously left up to you to do everything and trust nothing in writing. Their online office folks are useless. I gave them three stars only because everything after leaving dock was great! Shouldn’t being confirmed and on vacation be everything?

  My daughter (25) and i took the half-day tour. They picked us up at our resort on-time, and everything went smoothly from then on. Our Captain and guide were attentive and friendly, and they ensured that everyone was comfortable and properly equipped for the dives. (We had several beginner swimmers, as well as a few seasoned divers in our group. Everyone enjoyed it.). We dove first at Silk Cay, a protected island and coral reef. After 45 minutes, we briefly dove near a local fishing boat. The fishermen were cleaning their catch, and dozens of sea life appeared to snack on the waste. It was like a mid-sea petting zoo; we interacted with giant sea turtles, 5-foot sharks, two types of rays, and dozens of fish. After that, we went to Moho Cay. We had a surprisingly tasty lunch there, and we relaxed. About half the group snorkeled around Moho Cay for another 30 minutes, while the rest of us explored the island and waters, or napped in hammocks. We were well-fed (and watered?) and attended to throughout the day. The seas are simply beautiful. It’s a great half day.

  Amazing tour guides, Carlos and Peter. Boat Captain, Dean, was fantastic. All were knowledgeable and shared in easy going manner. The snorkeling was so much better with them in the island setting. I have done the barrier reef and found that to be lacking as only spot utilized. Price was pretty reasonable also. Can't say enough about how well we were treated. Will definitely use them again.
