Scenic Routes is your gateway to bespoke Speyside whisky tours, delivered with warmth, professionalism and deep local insight.
Founded by myself, David, over 10 years ago Inverness, I have now decided the time is right to step back from the physical aspect of touring.
I have in place a small team of expert driver-guides, who are not only colleagues but friends too.
I have set a very high standard and I can promise the same high-touch, premium experience across every journey.

What To Expect
Scottish Highlands
Guests will be able to visit several distilleries on Speyside. It’s about a 1 hour drive from Inverness to Speyside itself. I normally recommend one tour and a few tastings with a spot of lunch too. Here are just a few distilleries it would be possible to visit- Tomatin, Glenlivet, Glenfarclas, Ballindalloch, Glenallachie, Glenfiddich and Speyburn to name a few.

Whiskey tour for Speyside forehand

5.00Robert is a professional driver you can trust. Being a whisky lover himself, I get a lot of information about distilleries and whiskey. I had him pick me up at the hotel, but he was waiting for me earlier than expected, so I was a punctual driver. On the day of the tour, we visited Glenlivet Distillery, which was closed so we couldn't taste it. But Robert suggested visiting the other distilleries and the rest of the distilleries that we were planning to visit on the day. The conversation in the car was also very enjoyable.

5.00This is an excellent personalized tour experience. Just let David know what your interests are regarding the whiskey industry and he will make it happen! We knew little of the industry so asked him to set up a distillery tour, a cooperage tour, and tastings at a few distilleries. He came back with an excellent tour itinerary, including a stop for lunch and a great drive through the countryside. We had a wonderful and memorable day! David is a great guide, knowledgeable of the area, and always happy to answer questions or to just have a good conversation. We thank him for a great time!

5.00We had a fantastic time with David! He was an excellent communicator before the trip and was more than willing to accommodate our requests. He was timely in picking us up in his comfortable car and even had water and shortbread for us to enjoy. He was so knowledgeable about each distillery we visited and had many stories to share about the beautiful areas we traveled through. I think we ended up visiting 12 distilleries throughout the day. We started the day with a tour guide and ended with a dear friend. We loved our day so much that we asked if we could book him for one more day.

It was lovely to have David, who has such a depth of knowledge in this area, lead us through the Speyside region, from the River Spey to the Cooperage, and to enjoy the amazing tastings at several distilleries. 5.00Firstly, we had an excellent, knowledgeable & courteous driver-director who educated us on the area and people as we mainly were looking to find Grant family tree members past and see where and how they had lived. The Speyside area & winding backroads were spectacular, very green countryside & lush. Took in a couple of distilleries also. Would definitely do this again, hopefully with family. Thank you David! Great guy, great guide, Great driver!

5.00To say David is an exceptional tour guide is just not enough! From the moment we reached out to him to the day of the tour, it was incredibly smooth process and his suggestions were perfect. We've done many private tours in our travels and this was the best. We only said we wanted to try distilleries not well known in the states and he delivered. He made a few unplanned site seeing stops as well along with a few surprises! Thank you David for a wonderful day!
