  I took the open water course with Monique on my own. I found it difficult to choose a good diving school on Curacao but ended up very well! Friendly, competent guidance. All exercises at your own pace, quiet explanations and well maintained material. The diving itself was very pleasant, each dive taken ample time, being underwater for an hour or more. Monique dived with as much enthusiasm as I did, who saw the marine life for the first time. For a follow-up course or material I would definitely go back to van de ven. I highly recommend this nice family business. Thanks for everything!

  Highly recommended! Last week I successfully completed the private open water diver course with my boyfriend. The first contact from the Netherlands was very nice because of the fast and clear communication. This immediately gave us the confidence to follow the diving course with Van de Ven. We were also able to do the theory online in the Netherlands, so we could quickly enter the water on Curacao. Upon entering you immediately enter a hot bath. Gerard and Angelique are super friendly, professional, enthusiastic and in no hurry, they really take the time to explain everything quietly. During the dive this is no different!! We will definitely come back and recommend everyone to go diving with diving school of the Ven!

  I came into contact with Dive Center van den Ven by direct colleagues who were recommended by them. I was always curious about my colleagues’ stories because of this I was a bit infected with the virus. I had planned an introductory dive in advance and it was such a great experience that I decided to continue for my Open Water certification. Thanks to the great guidance — and especially thanks to Angelique, who helped, motivated and guided me extremely well — I was proud to get my Open Water Certificate! I can recommend Dive Center van den Ven to anyone who wants to get acquainted with the underwater world or want to continue diving. A top team, beautiful location, and an experience I will never forget!

  During my 1st, introductory dive, I became nauseous. We stopped. The nausea came from a sunburn the day before and from my tension. The diving school showed genuine understanding, listened carefully to me and really saw me. I didn't have to pay for the follow-up dives that were already booked if I didn't continue. The day after, when I felt good, I chose to continue anyway, partly because of the people-oriented approach of this diving school. The diving school was very flexible in rebooking the follow-up dives. Step by step I did a dive more with the experienced dive instructor for many years. Thanks in part to this diving school, I got my Open Water license in today! And that at the age of 57. What a great, small family business!

  I just don’t know where to start, my sister and I had such a great experience at your dive center. In 2018, we made an introductory dive with you which was so well liked that we came back this year, July 2025. Now we have our SSI Open Water Diving license. In total, that was four dives and theory we had to learn. The first three chapters were a lot of theory, but believe me after that it gets a lot less 😂 Our buddy and dive instructor was Gerard. We have made a total of 5 dives with him this holiday. The fifth dive, so when we already got our license we had taken their camera. Super cool this was and the pictures and videos turned out pretty well! We even saw a seahorse 🤩 Gerard explained everything super well and also conveyed it in peace. If you had questions you could ask them and everything was especially relaxed. We had the four dives you had to do spread over two days. You actually arrive at the dive center in the morning and then you first had explanations, then you went to build your set and finally to the place where you went diving. After this dive we went back to eat something and in the afternoon the other dive was at a different location. Another very important thing is that this dive center only dives in small groups or privately and that you do not have to be afraid that you will be in a group with six other people. To get your diving license you also had to do certain exercises, both above water and under water. You don't have to be afraid of this because everything is explained well. Gerard paid very close attention to us if everything was okay and he did this the entire dive. So the diving was super cool, but also the contact with Monique, Angelique and Gerard (Johan is also very nice, but we only saw him once) was very nice and well arranged. My sister and I recommend this dive center to everyone, because they are really the best in Curacao. We also recommend everyone Gerard as a dive instructor, because we both had a very nice experience with him.

  

  

  

• As for us "The diving school on Curaçao"

  Despite having dived a lot in the past, never got a license. On our holiday to Curaçao it had to happen. After some searching we arrived at van de Ven (where we also drove past about 4 times a day given our whereabouts). We were welcomed and spoken to in a relaxed and casual way by Monique (owner) and her husband. All our questions were answered and explanations were given about the course of the open water course. My partner never liked diving (wanting to keep something in control) but went through the conversation and reassurance of Monique, tacked on and decided to do a test dive. During the first dive, my partner was tense as expected, however, in the hands of diving professional Monique she soon became calm and could enjoy what the underwater world has to offer. After this first experience/session, my partner decided to get her open water certification... the follow-up dives went in the same way where knowledge/experience, tranquility but especially personal attention from Monique prevailed. Despite my partner tensely going into the water with every dive she has overcome this tension with the help of the above professional approach and she succeeded!!! As far as we are concerned, diving school of the Ven is due to the good but casual and safe guidance and highly recommended if you want to do your SSI diving courses.
