Becoming an SSI Open Water Diver is the best way to start your scuba adventure due to worldwide recognition! With personalized training and attention, your guides make sure you are truly comfortable underwater with the skills and equipment you will use. In general, an Open Water Diver course consists of 3 parts: Academics, Confined and Open Water Sessions.

Diving within 48 hours of flying is not recommended. All participants will be required to complete a health questionnaire prior to diving. Some pre-existing medical conditions (eg asthma, heart conditions, etc) may prevent you from diving, please consult your doctor

5.00I followed my Open Water training at Dive Center Van de Ven and I honestly can't imagine a better place to learn to dive. Monique has invested a huge amount of time and patience in me. From the first moment I felt reassured. She saw my nerves, took them completely seriously and guided me step by step, always with peace, understanding and a warm smile. Thanks to her, I felt safe enough to grow, build confidence and ultimately really enjoy every dive. What makes this dive center so special is the atmosphere. You immediately feel that this is a family business where people are central. It’s not about delivering certifications quickly or making a profit, but about passion for diving, shared experiences and real connections between people. You are not treated as a customer, but as part of the diving family. The professionalism, personal approach and genuine love for the sport make Dive Center Van de Ven unique. I am incredibly grateful to have been able to take my first steps underwater here. I really can't imagine doing my Open Water anywhere else. An absolute must for anyone who wants to learn to dive in a warm, safe and enthusiastic environment. Merci Monique and the whole crew there!

5.00I took the open water course with Monique on my own. I found it difficult to choose a good diving school on Curacao but ended up very well! Friendly, competent guidance. All exercises at your own pace, quiet explanations and well maintained material. The diving itself was very pleasant, each dive taken ample time, being underwater for an hour or more. Monique dived with as much enthusiasm as I did, who saw the marine life for the first time. For a follow-up course or material I would definitely go back to van de ven. I highly recommend this nice family business. Thanks for everything!

5.00Highly recommended! Last week I successfully completed the private open water diver course with my boyfriend. The first contact from the Netherlands was very nice because of the fast and clear communication. This immediately gave us the confidence to follow the diving course with Van de Ven. We were also able to do the theory online in the Netherlands, so we could quickly enter the water on Curacao. Upon entering you immediately enter a hot bath. Gerard and Angelique are super friendly, professional, enthusiastic and in no hurry, they really take the time to explain everything quietly. During the dive this is no different!! We will definitely come back and recommend everyone to go diving with diving school of the Ven!

5.00I came into contact with Dive Center van den Ven by direct colleagues who were recommended by them. I was always curious about my colleagues’ stories because of this I was a bit infected with the virus. I had planned an introductory dive in advance and it was such a great experience that I decided to continue for my Open Water certification. Thanks to the great guidance — and especially thanks to Angelique, who helped, motivated and guided me extremely well — I was proud to get my Open Water Certificate! I can recommend Dive Center van den Ven to anyone who wants to get acquainted with the underwater world or want to continue diving. A top team, beautiful location, and an experience I will never forget!

5.00During my 1st, introductory dive, I became nauseous. We stopped. The nausea came from a sunburn the day before and from my tension. The diving school showed genuine understanding, listened carefully to me and really saw me. I didn't have to pay for the follow-up dives that were already booked if I didn't continue. The day after, when I felt good, I chose to continue anyway, partly because of the people-oriented approach of this diving school. The diving school was very flexible in rebooking the follow-up dives. Step by step I did a dive more with the experienced dive instructor for many years. Thanks in part to this diving school, I got my Open Water license in today! And that at the age of 57. What a great, small family business!
