See the only remaining restored Gangster Era site on this historic tour of extensive caves carved into the hillside in long-abandoned mining ventures in the 1800s. Later it was a mushroom farm, and it was then developed into a restaurant casino and gangsters' hotspot during the 1930s prohibition era. Newspapers reported an unsolved gangland murder at the casino. Tour guides point out the bullet holes. Some believe the caves are haunted by the murdered mobsters whose bodies were never found. The original bar from the 30s has been fully restored - it was a then-record at 60 feet long.
Though this tour is appropriate for all ages, we recommend ages 5 and up, due to shorter attention spans and restlessness.

It's a fun family experience about the caves, it's many uses before probation, relationship with the mafia and how it is used today. There is minimum discussion about ghosts.

The cave tour was extremely interesting and we had an incredibly informative, animated tour guide. She told fantastic stories about the gangsters and mushroom growing, which occurred in the caves.

Our tour guide was amazing!! She was so friendly, fun and very knowledgable. Took her time to explain the history thoroughly and could hear clearly at the back of a very large group of people. Very appreciative.

Very informative and fun! Don't use the 3rd party site to get your tickets if you have students or seniors in your group. I was over charged $16 for our group and there was nothing they could do about it.

Karen did a fabulous job of telling the historical story of the Wabasha Caves and local details about what happened inside! Our granddaughters were especially interested in the “spirits” that may reside there!

Luke was an excellent guide! I didn't know what to expect, but I truly enjoyed the mix of atmosphere, history, ghost stories, true crime stories, and fun facts.

Went for the historic cave tour yesterday. Luke was a super warm and engaging tour guide! I felt like I learned a lot! The caves are such a fascinating part of history, and I was delighted to be able to learn more about how and when they were used. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting or living in Minnesota, it's great to be able to explore such a fascinating realm of the past!
