The Jungle Prada Site is the best-preserved American Indian site in Tampa Bay. The highlight of our 75-minute guided Florida history tour is a huge Tocobaga Indian midden mound and adjoining village plaza. Hidden away in the historic neighborhood known as Jungle Prada, the main mound consists of tens of thousands of ancient conch and whelk shells, and is more than 900 feet long! The subtropical jungle landscape here is populated by dozens of beautiful free-roaming peacocks! The tour and the locations are loaded with Florida history that is explained in a vibrant and engaging way. In addition to learning about the lives of the Tocobaga Indians, you'll also encounter the amazing story of Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca, a Spanish conquistador who landed at the Jungle Prada with the 1528 Narvaez Expedition, and whose incredible journey of survival took him and three others from Florida all the way to the Pacific Ocean (1528 - 1536). If you are a Florida resident or a visitor interested in history and archaeology, the Jungle Prada Site Tour is a rewarding experience that will engage your mind and challenge your perceptions about the Sunshine State!

We absolutely loved the Jungle Prada site tour! David was an amazing guide; his passion for the history was incredible and he had a great sense of humour!! The admission fee was minimal for the length of the tour (90 minutes) and it was nice to explore the general area prior to the tour to take some photos, etc. Our tour group was on the small size (7) so it was easy to hear and see everything clearly! The whole site is beautiful - from the free roaming peacocks fanning their feathers, to the views of treasure island from the dock, to the many plants in and around the site - it all added to the tour! The site itself is incredible with all the history, shells, pottery, etc. An added bonus was the air conditioned tented area to start and end the tour had chairs and water available. I would suggest bringing your bottle or enjoying the water provided as it does get warm out there! The tented old greenhouse was also home to artifacts found over the years on the site which were really neat to see! Overall the tour was an amazing addition to our visit to Florida from Ontario! We would recommend to anyone travelling to the area to book the tour!

This walking tour was wonderful. David is a great tour gude and storyteller. There is so much we didn't know about the area and its history. We enjoyed the peacocks and the garden, too. It's easy to get to and we enjoyed the morning tour and had a nice meal at the nearby restaurant.

One of the best kept secrets in Pinellas County, Jungle Prada. Adjacent to the historical Pasadena neighborhood. David gives a narrative of his family's coastal property rich in history, culture and flora. Three generations of family dedication ensuring preservation of "Old Florida”. Details about how Treasure Island and Johns Pass were formed by hurricanes and hard work of local community members preserving the beauty of Boca Ciega. Rich in history of Native American and Spanish exploration. A must see before you hit the beach!! Done
