It is definitely overpriced. Your first day is basically a taxi ride to a panorama view point where the souvenir shop is, followed by drop off at beach then ride back at hotel in 3 hours. Day 2 is ride to ferry terminal where you pay for the ferry tickets yourself then quick tour of island. The 4 hours tour that you spent at St John is really 2 hours at Trunk bay then rest driving with quick stops at view points. They would not let you take a later ferry if you want to spend more time in St John as you will then need to get back yourself from the ferry terminal. Waited more than half an hour for a shared taxi to take us back to town from red hook ferry terminal as the first taxi took off without waiting for us. This tour is no different than just hire your own taxi to get around and definitely not work the $$$.

We enjoyed the St. John. Tour much more than the St. Thomas Tour. It was a more interesting day, visiting the Annenberg Plantation ruins, Trunk Bay Beach, and driving around the island. Our tour guide gave us lots of great info as he drove us around. We also stopped at a lot of places along the way and took some great pictures. We weren't impressed as much with the St. Thomas day. We saw most of the same views as we did on our shuttle from the airport. I wish we could have stopped more frequently at the scenic spots to take pictures. It’s really hard taking good pictures from a moving vehicle. The tour guide for this day was not as informative as the St John’s tour guide. Also, the time spent at Magen's Bay Beach was nice, but you can book a taxi or a transfer through Great Exploration for there and back for a fraction of the price. Be advised, the descriptions for this tour have some inaccuracies. The tour does not include the cost of the ferry to St. John. You purchase your own round trip tickets at $16 pp. If you pay round trip at Red Hook St. you can use your credit card. If you buy separate tickets, the return ferry at St. John only takes cash. We also did not see Cinnamon Bay, only Trunk Bay. We were able to grab lunch, but at our own expense, at both Magen’s Beach and at Trunk Bay Beach. They really should update their tour descriptions, they are contradictory and confusing. Our communications with Great Explorations before the tour was excellent. They answered all of our questions so we had an accurate itinerary and pick up time for each day. We highly recommend booking the St. John’s Tour through Great Exploration, and book a transfer to Magen’s Beach at another time separately.

We signed up for the 2 day tour. The actual tour company is Great Exploration Tours. We received confirmation for the dates. We were scheduled for a Thursday and Friday. On Monday, we received an email saying they needed to move Thursday (St. John) to Tuesday (the next day) but Friday (St Thomas) was still fine. So we rearranged out plans for the next day. We went on the tour, it underwhelming. About 1.5 hours was wasted in travel time driving around the island picking up other people. All transportation, fees, and lunch were supposed to included in the price but when we arrived at the ferry we were told it wasn’t. So we went ahead and paid so we didn’t miss the tour. (We called the company during the tour and they said they would have someone drop the reimbursement of to us at our resort). The island is beautiful but the actual tour was quite short. We basically drove by a few places and stopped at a beach for an hour then we were taken back to the ferry terminal for “shopping”. We were told that we get $12 each for lunch at one of the places at the ferry terminal (of course this doesn’t cover anything on any of the menus). The driver/tour person followed us to the restaurant hovered over us until we ordered then paid the waitress $24 and left. We had a very non authentic lunch and paid the remainder of the bill before hopping back on a 2pm ferry. Honestly, we would have been better off just taking the ferry over to St John and hiring one of the many private tour guides available once you get off the ferry. It would have been cheaper and we we would have had more time to actually stop and experience the island. On Thursday, the day before the St Thomas tour, I hadn’t heard from the company about pickup time so I reached out to them. They then said they need to reschedule the tour. Keep in mind they confirmed it on Tuesday and didn’t reach out to me. I told them we were leaving in a few days and couldn’t reschedule. I asked for a refund for the day. It was crickets after that. They didn’t respond to several emails and phone calls. I had to open a complaint with trip advisor in order to get my money back. In short, run this is not worth the money or aggravation. There are plenty of other reputable tours companies.

My friend and I were quite lucky to get a private tour due to it being off season, which meant special undivided attention. Both of our tour guides were on time, pleasant, professional and knowledgeable. We had an amazing time. We saw so many different attractions. I must rave especially about our St. John's trip. Our tour guide Kenneth was extremely informative and we learn so much about the island. We actually decided to spend extra time on St. John and we enjoyed the sites especially the beach, the cuisine and the shopping. I just want to thank both Hamlet and Kenneth for a wonderful time. Keep up the good work!!!

This company cares about customer service and this is the reason I am rating this tour 5 stars. They could have canceled my excursion but after asking them not to, they didn't. Thank you!! St John and Trunk Bay was absolutely amazing, the best part of my VI trip!
