Stamford is perhaps the finest Georgian-era town in Britain. You might not have been there before but you’ll likely recognise it from its many appearances onscreen.
Stamford’s narrow alleyways and hidden courtyards are home to all manner of specialty shops, fine jewelers & designer boutiques. It also has a Friday Market and a buzzing High Street.
Almost every street in Stamford is a work of art with beauty everywhere you look. Not forgetting the great history and quite charm. It's heaven!

Stamford
Stamford is said to be the most beautiful stone and Georgian town in England. Spend a few hours here and you'll tend to agree and you might recognise a few locations that have been used onscreen.
Soon after we leave the station, we will pass through the gorgeous Town Meadows and cross the River Wellend.

Excellent tour with Stephen

5.00We are spending two nights in beautiful Stamford and thought a tour would be a great introduction. We did a private tour with Stephen and it was excellent. He knew the history of the town, the movers and shakers throughout history, and the history behind various stately buildings. He also does pub tours so he gs e is pub and restaurant recommendations as we passed by. Of course we had many questions and Stephen gracefully answered them. He’s also a pretty interesting guy. He does tours elsewhere in Yorkshire and also in London and is an accomplished author. Really enjoyed our morning with Stephen!

Communication before the day was excellent, with Stephen providing valuable information including where to park. We appreciated the relaxed and easy nature of the tour, the fun facts Stephen relayed alongside his considerable historical knowledge, and we were even given the opportunity to pop in to an amazing craft fair. We were delighted with the fact that any questions we had were answered with authority by Stephen, whether it was about the history of Stamford or the buildings. We all came away having learnt something and agreed that it was a very enjoyable and memorable morning!

5.00A really great tour! Perfectly paced and flexible enough to accommodate our group spotting little places they wanted to look at including a bakery and the market. Stephen is an interesting and engaging guide, hugely knowledgeable and full of quirky little facts and anecdotes which really make a place come alive. I’ve been to Stamford many times but this tour covered places I had no idea existed and explained the history and significance of more familiar areas. A fascinating and very enjoyable morning.
