Journey into the heart of 18th-century America with our immersive Three-Hour Colonial Williamsburg History Walking Tour.
Explore the buildings that capture the spirit of a young nation on the brink of independence. Enter the elegant halls of the Governor’s Palace, seat of British authority—and later, revolutionary resistance. Walk the creaking floors of the Capitol Building, where debates that shaped the birth of democracy echoed through its chambers.
Along the way, you’ll visit blacksmiths, printers, apothecaries, and wigmakers—living history tradespeople who carry on colonial craftsmanship. Each stop unveils another layer of the complex, fascinating world of 1700s Virginia.
Perfect for history lovers, families, or curious travelers, this tour offers a vivid, interactive experience.

Tom, our guide who has more than four decades of experience with colonial Williamsburg, was beyond amazing! He gave us so many interesting facts and trivia, and went way above what we expected. He made this fabulous colonial Williamsburg experience truly a superb trip for my daughter and myself and one that we will always remember. He was so good. It’s almost embarrassing with how little we paid for this tour. Needless to say it was well worth the money!

This tour was absolutely outstanding! Elizabeth, the tour guide, knew all sorts of relevant details about the buildings that we entered or passed. She has a great knowledge of the time period and the people who lived in Williamsburg at that time. I learned a lot about our nation's history!

Step back in time sounds like a lot for 3 hours, but it is constantly in motion. We never felt tired as there was always a story to hear. We saw several buildings and demonstrations. The tour does vary based on what is open on that day, and the length of the line to get into individual places (ex. skip a long line to see two other places). Our guide Tom had so many bits of knowledge to share, and small details we never would have noticed that really enhanced the experience. He expertly guided us around to see the most for our time. Would highly recommend!

Tom was incredibly knowledgeable, A good listener and very kind and respectful. My husband and I really enjoyed his stories of how certain terms or phrases in the English language were determined. So fun! Tom has a very nice demeanor, which is perfect for working with the public.

We had a great tour guide in Tom. He was a walking encyclopedia of American history. Wish it could have lasted longer. Thanks for a great experience!

Lots of background and stories to help understand Colonial Williamsburg. Much better than just looking at buildings and reading signs.
