If you are a birder or bird photographer visiting St. Maarten, I highly recommend a tour with this company. We had Nascha. She knows the island extremely well and brought us to several different habitats where we had excellent opportunities to see and photograph birds. As birder and Bird Photographer, I really appreciated how she positioned us in the best spots for clear views and good light. She’s extremely knowledgeable on the flora and fauna of the island. Willing to share her knowledge was the best part of the tour. She also made the experience very comfortable, providing cold drinks and delicious banana bread along the way. A wonderful tour and a must-do for anyone interested in birding or bird photography on the island. Roxana March 27th, 2026

My husband and I visited St Martin for one week and did this activity in our last day, hours before our return flight. It was hands down the best thing we did on our trip. Our guide Nascha has lived in the island for many years and knows as much as the native birds and natural habitat, as she does about the island history and culture. It was a relief to be able to escape the tourist hubs and learn from someone who truly cares for the island, its wildlife, people and the local communities. We visited multiple sites across varying elevations, reveled in some of the most beautiful views on the island, and identified a wide variety of birds. What memorable and joyful experience, we are so grateful and happy to have found this opportunity!

What a fabulous excursion this was. Nascha is so interesting and passionate about the bird life and Saint Maarten. We saw many different types of bird including many types of birds we had never seen before. It really was a great way to spend the morning and worth every dollar. Highly recommended if you’re a bird lover.

Of our week in SintMaarten, this tour was the highlight. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable and so willing to share her knowledge of the island, we learned as much about history, geography and"governance" as we did about birds! It was great. We stopped at 5 different habitats, getting waterbirds, shorebirds, and even curious yellow warblers. Well, well worth the time and cost. Thx Nascha.😃

Arriving on a cruise ship, many of my fellow guests headed off to sample rum or to lie on a beach. I am SO glad I instead chose to spend the time exploring various habitats throughout both sides of the island with such a knowledgeable and friendly guide. Binkie may be the premier naturalist and wildlife advocate on St.Martin. For many decades he has explored every ecosystem and tracked the presence of every bird species, resident or migrant. His love for the island and his deep knowledge of the history of the cultures are quickly apparent. We spent a delightful time observing the full range of birds, in many habitats, on both the Dutch and French sides of the island. Binkie will be an excellent guide for you no matter whether you are out for your first time looking for birds or are seeking the 5 thousandth tick on your list.

We were the only 2 on our tour, so were picked up at our hotel. We were out for longer than the advertised 3.5 hours.........I suspect Binkie would have carried on longer, but I began to suffer with the heat. We saw a great selection of birds, and also were given some clues as to where else to try for the rest of our stay here. Binkie was friendly and knowledgeable, and clearly remains very enthusiastic about the conservation of the Island in general. Definitely to be recommended.

Wow! The guide was so informative. Spoke of habitats, bird types and behaviors. Birds that coexist, others that don't. Migration paths, Caribbean islands are a critical stopping point on way to South America sometimes they stay here in St Martin. We visited 6 areas on the island, I think by the end of the tour we had observed ~30+ species of birds. Visited the only pelican nesting area on the island and had a chance to observe the families in the nests, feeding chicks of various sizes. It was s very interesting tour. Amazing how much bird life happens right around us and remains unseen.

I did the Small Group Birding Tour on June 9, 2025. Binkie was a great tour guide and a joy to spend 4-5 hours with. He is very knowledgeable about the birds and is a great historian of the island. Just a delightful tour with a very delightful person. We managed to see a variety of birds and I was able to take some interesting bird photo. I highly recommend this tour.

Our guide was nothing short of outstanding. He drove us all over the island to visit different conservation sites and parks. The birds and sites we saw were amazing. Mr. van Es was very friendly, engaging and extremely considerate. His knowledge of the island history was second only to that of the island (and regional) birds—which was encyclopedic. He even shared some of his favorite lunch and dinner spots! We look forward to doing this excursion again when we return to this beautiful island.

We are an older couple, (63 & 60), who visited St Maarten in March 25 on a day trip from a cruise ship. This was an excellent tour. Binkie was extremely knowledgeable and amiable, very pleasant company and to talk to. He runs the local wildlife charity so he knows a lot about all wildlife on the island in throughout the Caribbean. He met us just a few minutes walk from the port, and dropped us off right at the port on the way back. Our "3 to 4 hour" tour lasted about 5 hours! We visited about 4 different birding sites, on both the Dutch and French sides of the island, he even took us back to his own house for a drink and to see the birds in his own garden. We saw plenty of birdlife and other wildlife and were extremely happy with the trip. We would thoroughly recommend Binkie and his tour. It's an excellent way to see some of the island and to get away from the busy tourist sites to much quieter spots. Perfect for cruise ship day visitors who want something different than the expensive cruise line tours.
