We had a lovely, informative and delicious food tour of Strasbourg today. Our guide, Christine, met us, another family and one single person at a central location. The tour lasted a little over three hours. We walked around the town of Strasbourg, listening to a little bit of explanation about what we were going to do, and a little history to give everything context. We stopped at one place for a little sausage and beer appetizer. Another for lunch, which was a warm and cozy January experience with traditional food and wine of the area, a Riesling or Pinot Noir. Then a visit to a cheese shop for a little taste of the locally produced cheese. And finally, dessert at a wine stube - an apple tarte flambé - doused in calvados (apple brandy from nearby Normandy) and set aflame. Our guide Christine was knowledgeable about cuisine and history of the area, as well as friendly and open to questions. Now we’re full and ready for a nap! What a great way to explore Alsace for the first time . Merci Christine!
