Kayak to the land mark of the Auckland region while the sun is slowly setting over Auckland and the Waitakere Ranges.
We pull our kayaks up to Rangitoto wharf before embarking on a 1 hour leisurely walk to the summit where you will be treated to the best sunset location Auckland has to offer.
Under the guidance of your professional guide we paddle back in the dark watching the city lights sparkle like stars.
This tour is fully catered with all kayaking equipment provided.

Take extra care to clean gear if you have Argentine ants or plague skinks where you live.
Clean clothing, footwear and camping gear, removing soil and seeds before and after each trip.
Look out for cleaning stations at the pier and scrub your shoes before boarding.
Do not bring your pets.

5.00It was an amazing and unforgettably experience. I booked without really paying much attention to the description. The adventure started with kayaking a 5k from shore to Rangitoto Island and then our awesome guide Daniel, prepared some delicious dinner. He even offered us tea or coffee. I could not even believe it. We were the only people in the island. It was peaceful and quiet. After dinner we hiked 1.5 miles up to the summit that totally blown us away with its beauty and majestic. Like a dream. We took pics of the beautiful sunset and head back to then row another 5k to the shore. It was dark by the time we came back. It was just peaceful. Daniel is very nice and knowledge on the history, plant and birds of the region. We really did enjoy it very much. I feel like I got more than I paid for. Would do it again in a heart beat.

5.00I got super lucky and was one of only two clients on my trip, and I had a super fun time! Ben and Camila were awesome guides, very knowledgeable and great cooks! They were super accommodating to my lack of kayaking and hiking experience. I would definitely recommend this for anyone wanting a little adventure and to meet people!

5.00Great experience! The kayaking wasn't too hard at all! And great for couples (or even 2 pals) as you kayak in 2 seater boats, so it's not as much of a challenge for novices who haven't been in a canoe or a kayak for decades! Great sunset views at the summit! Take shoes with ankle support! And dont forget 2 changes of dry underwear! Chilean Ben was a fantastic host! Great steaks too!

5.00Me and my partner had the best day on this tour, our guide Ben was wonderful, hilarious and obviously very good at what he does. We had the perfect day for it with the weather and the calmest of waters. Topped off with stunning sunset views from the top of Rangitoto and a new experience of being on the water at night. Would highly recommend if you’re in the city on holiday, or even if you live here (like me) and want to try something new. Getting out of the hustle and bustle of the city was very therapeutic :))

5.00It was a beautiful day to kayak at Rangitoto island, and the tour guide Tony, created a fun and immersive experience for us! We were provided with extra kayaking gear, and lots of explicit instruction that was easy to follow! The kayaking experience was beautiful, and the hike up to rangitoto was beautiful. Tony provided us with extensive knowledge about the surrounding area and some of the north island history. Once we got back down, we had a wonderful meal provided by Auckland Sea Kayaks, and were able to safely kayak back at night! Highly recommend to anyone who wants a fun adventure and a good time!

5.00I recommend doing this activity with Kobe, our guide, as he had a lot of patience with my boyfriend and me. This was the first time I kayaked and he was very attentive to me and made sure to go consulting me how I was throughout the activity. My boyfriend does not speak English well and made sure to give us room to review the safety standards in Spanish. Kobe was very attentive throughout, always with a smile and creating a great atmosphere. The food was delicious, the comments and information Kobe gave us were very helpful, and the equipment was optimal. The views were amazing. I highly recommend, even not being a fan of kayaking, because I felt so taken care of.

5.00Really enjoyed our sunset sea kayak trip from Auckland to Rangitoto Island. Our host Tony was exceptional in his guidance, knowledge and expertise. We had lovely weather, views and tasty BBQ on dry land. Highly recommend! Definitely one of trip highlights. Be prepared to get wet (despite the skirt) but to have an awesome adventure!

5.00What a fantastic experience. The kayak across the bay to Rangitoto was a good challenge. The hike up Rangitoto provided incredible views across the islands and back to the city skyline. The barbecue was delicious and the evening kayak back, with the twinkling city lights and skyline, was magical. We even saw a pod of orcas off Rangitoto! Thank you Kobe for your great guiding and great barbecue.

5.00We loved our sunset kayak tour to Rangitoto. Our party was a group of four and we had four others in our group. Really highly recommend it. Our guide was very knowledgeable and informative so we felt in safe hands! I hadn't done much kayaking before but we were given great advice and I really enjoyed the kayaking. After a warm drink at Rangitoto we got to walk up and enjoy the beauty and nature that Rangitoto offers. Once back down we enjoyed a bbq before kayaking home in the dark under the stars . Thanks to Tony and the team for such a great experience!
