Coolest thing I’ve ever seen. I actually can’t believe how close up they get to you (they practically graze you) and they're such docile animals. Tour operators were such a nice group of people. I appreciate that they also helped a little kid who got scared

Large group, unfortunately some people do not follow or understand directions. The boat and the site was wonderful. Many rays come right up close but people need to follow directions and should know basics of floating with feet up behind you. It was choppy seas and you hold a frame but it moves.

This was an unforgettable experience for my adult children and I. Captain Jacob and his crew were friendly and professional. They altered the experience to fit all levels of swimmers and were great with the people - like my daughter - who were a bit timid and nervous at first. We saw SO many mantas! It was just incredible!! Highly recommend.

The experience itself is as advertised - amazing. It is a bit dependent on actually seeing manta rays. We met some people a day later who said they did not see any. We got luck and saw about 6-12 and a visitor Galapagos Shark. They take you out from a pier on about a fifteen minute boat ride and then you hang on to these floating cages with (in our case) a pool noodle under our feet to lay flat. What they do not tell you is how cold it is - at least in May. They gave us a wetsuit for our upper body, but it was still very cold. Not nearly so cold to make us wish we did not do it. For us, the down side was the operator. Hang Loose Boat Tours did a fine job communicating (even moving the time up on the day of - great communication). Our team seemed to take that company name to heart. Everything was fine, but it did feel like there were no adults on the boat in any position of authority. Again, nothing went wrong, but it seemed a little...uncontrolled. We still want to give them five stars, but it is worth pointing out this tiny concern.

Our experience was absolutely amazing from start to finish. From the moment we checked in to the time we got in and out of the water, the staff went above and beyond to make sure everyone felt comfortable, safe, and taken care of. You can truly tell they care about what they do and about the people they’re serving. Every staff member was professional, personable, patient, and genuinely kind. They didn’t treat us like just another group or another job — they treated us like family. The energy on the boat was welcoming, fun, and reassuring the entire time. What stood out the most was how patient and encouraging the crew was with everyone. No one was rushed or made to feel embarrassed, nervous, or pressured at any point. They made the experience enjoyable for all comfort levels, which meant a lot. And let me just say — the crew can SWIM. You definitely feel safe knowing you’re in good hands with people who are highly skilled and experienced in the water. I would absolutely recommend this experience to everyone, including my own children. If you’re thinking about booking, do it — you will not regret it.

This was a once in a lifetime experience for anyone who loves animals. After a short boat ride from the harbor, we attached to a mooring to hold our spot. The crew deployed 4 surfboard-sized floatation devices with bright lights and handrails all around. We all swam out to the floats and grabbed on. Within minutes, giant manta rays started swimming up to eat the plankton attracted by the lights. The rays were inches away from our arms and faces as they swam by. We saw numerour rays ranging from 6-14 feet across. We also had several times when the rays brushed up against us. I would highly recommend people do this once in their life. A couple of words of warning... 1. The water was a little rough and several people got sea sick. Prepare for this in advance so you can enjoy the experience. 2. The rough water made the swim to the floats more difficult than expected. Both my wife and I are strong swimmers and we were winded by the time we got to the handrails. 3. Holding on to the float was physically demanding. The water was cold and rough. This combination wore us out...especially after the swim to the float. Despite these challenges, I highly recommend this trip. Being mentally and physically prepared will help make this experience the best it can be.
