It exceeded our expectations! We had very up close and personal viewing of the large manta’s. The water was warm and well lit which attracted the manta’s. The crew was an absolute blast. We loved the stories and background info shared by the captain, Simon, that added to the experience. He also had a great sense of humor which kept us laughing and his music playlist was top notch. I cried laughing when he played Living On Prayer and Celine’s Titanic song on the boat ride home. Our whole boat of strangers enjoyed a little karaoke session on the way home! Would 1000% percent recommend Hang Loose Boat Tours and would use them again if we return!

Jordan and Ula were fantastic very friendly and helpful they obviously enjoy their jobs. The manta ray experience is something I will never forget. So magical to have them swimming below you and maybe even brushing you as they swam by. If you do no other activity in Kona make sure you do this. I guarantee you will not regret it 👍

It was amazing getting to be so close to the manta rays. But we went on a night where the waves were a little high. The boat ride to the cove and back was a little crazy, especially for those who are not used to being on boats. Several people on the boat were vomiting all over the place, the smell was horrible. Most of the crew was great about it, except one woman who was getting annoyed at the vomiting- which is understandable but also, what are the passengers supposed to do? Best advice- don’t eat before getting on, take anti nausea medicine, and maybe bring a vomit bag with you and a lot of sanitizer. The experience is definitely one we will never forget

This was the highlight of our trip to the Big Island! The crew was knowledgeable, and friendly and the boat was roomy and clean. We felt very safe throughout the experience. They provided a wetsuit top, a mask and snorkel. I recommend bringing a light jacket or hoody for the boat ride, but you're still protected from the wind somewhat in the seating area. You cannot use fins for this activity; they give you a pool noodle to support your feet while you hold onto a floating platform with both hands. They have multiple staff in the water with you, assisting people to get situated and checking on everyone, so it's not as scary as it might seem! The rays were gentle giants gliding within inches of us and we're honestly still kind of blown away. I would recommend the experience and the crew to other travelers. Mahalo!

10/10 highly recommend. (We also HIGHLY RECOMMEND bringing a towel, sweatpants and a hoodie for when you’re done.) Bryce, Gary & Jordan were fantastic! The entire staff was talking with everyone, making sure everyone was comfortable, safe and answered any questions everyone had. Not to mention hilarious! We saw some manta rays, lots of fish, some reef sharks. Always good to tip the workers, too!

Absolutely fantastic experience. The boat and staff were great and always ready to help. Only thing for people to know is the marina bathroom will be closed when you get back and the local gas stations close restrooms by 9.
