5.00Island View Hawaii is one of the few operators out there that clearly prioritizes the well-being of the animals over social media hype—and that made all the difference. From the start, the crew took the time to properly brief everyone on how to safely interact in the water with sharks. They didn’t rush the process, and they were especially patient with nervous participants and first-timers, making sure everyone felt comfortable before getting in. That level of care and professionalism really stood out. What impressed me most was their approach in the water. Unlike some operators who encourage hands-on interactions just to get dramatic photos or videos, this crew kept things respectful and controlled. There was no unnecessary contact—just observing these animals the way it should be done. As an experienced diver, I can say that understanding shark behavior takes years, and even with experience, the best approach is always to keep a safe distance and appreciate them for what they are. Island View Hawaii fully embraces that philosophy. They allow you to witness the beauty of these animals in their natural state without interfering. Unfortunately, I’ve seen other operations that intentionally provoke or handle sharks for the sake of attention, which is not only disrespectful but also dangerous. That kind of behavior can condition sharks to associate humans with unnatural interactions, ultimately degrading the experience for everyone. Island View Hawaii stands firmly on the right side of that line. On top of that, the crew was genuinely friendly, welcoming, and down-to-earth—without the arrogance you sometimes see from operators who present themselves as “shark whisperers.” It felt like being guided by people who truly respect the ocean, not people trying to perform for an audience. 5.00Absolutely amazing, had it planned as the highlight of my Hawai’i trip and it did not disappoint. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, and happy to answer any question in detail and enthusiastically. Sharks were already in the water and there was no waiting for them to come as we dived in. Safety was always first but this didn’t hinder the experience at all as we were able to dive down and get a great view. To have photos included is great as you don’t have to worry about go-pros or waterproof phone cases failing on you. Brilliant
