5.00This was something I have wanted to do for years, but I have always had a huge fear of sharks and whatever else could be in the deep blue. My daughter and I decided to make it happen on this trip to Hawaii. I was very worried about her since she cannot swim but the boat had floatation pads she was able to hold under her arms. I definitely recommend Dramamine if you get motion sickness or to take just in case, I was very nauseous and wish I had taken some. The water was really choppy when we went as well so it wasn’t better once I got into the water from the boat. The calmness under water was unbelievable and we saw a couple of sharks right around us. On the way to the area we also saw a big pod of spinner dolphins. You cannot bring your own GoPro or underwater camera or phone into the ocean to protect yourself, others, and the wildlife but the guides take great photos and videos of you for free and airdrop you all of them at the end. I would definitely do it again (with medicine). My daughter loved it even more than I did and also wants to do it again. Trust yourself and the other reviews about doing this instead of the shark cage! You have 30 minutes in the water!

5.00Absolutely amazing experience!! I felt safe the whole time. There’s a 15-20 minute ride out on a boat and then you get to snorkel around the sharks for about 30 minutes. Photos are included which is an added bonus! No one would believe we did this without proof haha. Would absolutely recommend.

5.00Water was very clear We had two main friends follow us, it was not scary just little unnerving as you would expect. Take the time to dive down when they ask it’s the best photo you will get. They take a camera down and share photos free via air drop or email if you don’t have iphone. It is quite cool so take a wind jacket and wetsuit style top

5.00Island View Hawaii is one of the few operators out there that clearly prioritizes the well-being of the animals over social media hype—and that made all the difference. From the start, the crew took the time to properly brief everyone on how to safely interact in the water with sharks. They didn’t rush the process, and they were especially patient with nervous participants and first-timers, making sure everyone felt comfortable before getting in. That level of care and professionalism really stood out. What impressed me most was their approach in the water. Unlike some operators who encourage hands-on interactions just to get dramatic photos or videos, this crew kept things respectful and controlled. There was no unnecessary contact—just observing these animals the way it should be done. As an experienced diver, I can say that understanding shark behavior takes years, and even with experience, the best approach is always to keep a safe distance and appreciate them for what they are. Island View Hawaii fully embraces that philosophy. They allow you to witness the beauty of these animals in their natural state without interfering. Unfortunately, I’ve seen other operations that intentionally provoke or handle sharks for the sake of attention, which is not only disrespectful but also dangerous. That kind of behavior can condition sharks to associate humans with unnatural interactions, ultimately degrading the experience for everyone. Island View Hawaii stands firmly on the right side of that line. On top of that, the crew was genuinely friendly, welcoming, and down-to-earth—without the arrogance you sometimes see from operators who present themselves as “shark whisperers.” It felt like being guided by people who truly respect the ocean, not people trying to perform for an audience. If you’re looking for an authentic, responsible, and unforgettable shark diving experience on Oʻahu’s North Shore, this is the company to go with.
