  • Fantastic!

Great zoo to visit - recommend getting in early to beat the crowds. Good array of different species with large enclosures. Food and drink not astronomical. Reccommend an animal experience if you can get in - I was able to have 15mins being close to a koala (no touching/holding of these animal in the zoo) which cost $15. Ideally book this in advance to avoid disappointment

  • disappointed - no crocodile as promised

While the ferry ride and zoo were nice ... we specifically said we wanted to go for the crocodile only to find there was no crocodile at the zoo. We even asked prior to buying tickets and again when we got off the ferry. A zoo staff told us at the bus stop that the large croc had to be moved but they had a fresh water croc to see - only to find out that wasn't true either. The other animal exhibits were nice. Food options limited and expensive. We could have spent time on another tour if we had been told the truth. Nice views from the ferry though too.

Excellent ferry journey across to the zoo with beautiful views of the bridge, Opera House and city skyline. Go early and get the first ferry as the animals sleep a lot in the heat. Take the free bus on arrival as it takes you to the beautiful old original entrance at the top. Well worth a visit.

An amazing zoo. It had been over 40 years since my last visit and still a great day out for young and old, families. Didn’t disappoint and we really enjoyed our visit. A must to do when in Sydney.

  • Easy way to get to and from the zoo

This is definitely the way to go! At the end of the day when I went to the pier to catch the ferry back, there were about 200 people waiting in line for the public ferry. This is after one public ferry already filled to capacity and left. I walked right by them and had a seat while I waited for my express ferry. When it arrived only people with pre-purchased return tickets were allowed on. There were about 30-40 of us who walked right by everyone in line and got on our ferry. There was loads of room on the ferry to sit upstairs/outside, or inside. Such a low stress way to leave the zoo. As far as the zoo, it was great! Lots of activities for the kids, great views of Sydney Harbor, and lots of educational talks by the keepers about the various animals. The animals seemed happy and had engaging enclosures. Tip: When you get there, take the free shuttle bus up to the main entrance. This takes you to the highest elevation at the zoo. Then you make your way downhill as you enjoy the zoo to end up at the pier at the end of your day. The other option is to walk 3 mins from the pier to the lower entrance when you arrive, but then you work your way uphill as you explore the zoo and then downhill again to leave.

Ferry to and from zoo is an excellent experience as you enjoy the view of the bay including viewing the Opera House and the Bridge. Best to visit not an a rainy days as some animals will be hiding. Beautiful zoo.

Captain Cook ferry is very easy to find . Redeeming your voucher for a ticket was quick. We took the first ferry at 0915. Recommend starting at top of zoo & work your way down. When you get off ferry there is a free bus to take you up. Was full & 20 minute wait for next one. Pay bus was right there for a few dollars. Tap credit card or Opal card. Bird show is a must see. Zoo is awesome esp Australia section. Took 1320 ferry back. It loaded quickly & had plenty of seats.

  • Express Boat and Zoo!

The express boat to the zoo was very convenient; the bus once we arrived at the zoo cost additional money, but we chose to walk the extra 3 minutes to the lower zoo entrance. We stopped for a snack at the bistro and enjoyed the zoo exhibits. Make sure to watch the return times for Captain Cooks!
