Overall fun experience. Lots to see and do. Remembering that your dealing with wildlife there's no guarantee you'll see everything.

We have recently visited several Zoos, but the best of all was the Taronga Zoo in Sydney. We took the ferry from Circular Quay to the Zoo and back, across the Sydney Harbor, which was a great experience in itself. From the pier at the Zoo, we took a bus to the main entry, so almost all the walking we did after that was downhill. On our visit, we emphasized the native Australian fauna. We loved the aviary, and also the opportunity to see a number of animals we weren't able to see in the wild: koalas, wombats, echidnas, a platypus, and a Tasmanian devil, as well as different species of kangaroos, emus, etc. We saw part of a very informative keeper's talk on the Dingo, and we really enjoyed a free bird show, featuring black and white cockatoos, a hawk, an owl, and a male red junglefowl, among other birds, hosted by some very skilled young bird handlers. This experience will be of considerable interest to visitors of all ages.

We went to Taronga zoo on the recommendation of our daughter who has visited previously and highly recommended it. She was right! It is a wonderful facility highlighting animals from all over the world, the unique wildlife of Australia, and the efforts for conservation and restoration of the animal population. We visited the Australian animal section as well as participated in feeding the giraffes. The giraffe feeding was a ton of fun and appropriate for adults and children. The display of animals was well done and made it easy to view most animals in in habitats they were comfortable in. We highly recommend this zoo not only for the content but the people I feel this star of our visit. Was" kiwi Rebecca" at the gift shop who not only explained some of the unique activities but also recognized us later when we went back to the gift shop. She is a wonderful representative of the zoo!

Highly recommended, with some of the best views of Sydney! A really cute souvenir shop and an amazing zoo. It was super crowded when we visited though—perhaps entry numbers could be better controlled.

Do not trust Viator. Their QR code did not work at the zoo and even with proof from zoo, they did not refund anything and blamed the zoo.

The zoo was nice being able to experience the animal up close. Only minor issues is if you have elders its hills to walk but the had chairs available if you get there early

I was sadly surprised to see that this iconic Sydney zoo, was very tired and filled with rubbish - most importantly there were plastic bags and cans etc floating around in some of the animal enclosures which I thought was dangerous. The enclosures were also much smaller than I expected, given the size of some of the animals such as the gorillas, rhinos etc. Whilst there was one vantage point that overlooked the Sydney Opera House and the bridge (the giraffe enclosure), I felt like there was little else of any significance. The food options were obviously for the masses - and were overpriced and poor quality. I’ve been to Steve Irwin’s Australia Zoo - which is amazing. Very different - much more space (fields infact) and highly focused on rehabilitation and conservation, but Taronga, as well known as it is, falls very short in all areas. Whilst we expected queues around the zoo itself - the wait for the ferries was also extremely poor - with wait times of over 30 mins to get back to Circular Quay. I wouldn’t re visit.

Too many people and not enough animals! I will never go back there again. It became a game of find an animal, any animal anywhere. Absolutely the worst zoo experience I have ever had. I went to Taronga about 5 years ago and it was great. Paying about $100 to see about 8 different animals is not a zoo!!

Disappointing visit to what used to be a Sydney favourite. Lots of shops but hardly any animals these days. No elephants, leopards, cougars, African wild dogs, bears of any species. Hardly any birds. Limited number of reptiles, no crocodiles and no Komodo dragons. No aquarium. Extremely disappointing. Views of Sydney still good.
