Located on the magnificent harbor, just 12 minutes by ferry with views of iconic landmarks this is truly a zoo with a view! Arrive at the zoo and take the Sky Safari cable car to the top entrance. Fly above the Zoo as it skims the canopy of the Asian rainforest inhabited by Taronga's orangutans and glide across the mysterious riverscape of AGL Amazonia, home to the Zoo's South American animals. Feel like a VIP as you tour the zoo and learn first-hand about the animals and how a zoo operates. Meet the hand-raised animals and wander the Australian animal walk-through to come face to face with wallabies and kangaroos. Don’t forget your camera as there are great photo opportunities with koalas, kangaroos and other Australian native animals. After your tour, spend the rest of the day checking out the great activities on offer at the zoo. There are expert talks through out the day, the not to be missed free flying bird show and the ever popular seal show. How to get to Taronga Zoo: The easiest way to get to the zoo is by ferry. Not only is it convenient but a great way to see the spectacular Sydney Harbour. Ferries depart from Wharf 4 at Circular Quay every 30 minutes. Once you have arrived at Taronga Wharf, take the Sky Safari cable car for a ride high over the zoo grounds. over looking Sydney's most famous landmarks and giving you a bird's-eye view over the zoo inhabitants, ending at the top entrance of the zoo. We have been too the Taronga zoo before on the behind the scenes tour. I thought I booked the same tour. No, they did away with that tour. This tour was ok. We made the mistake of walking up the hill from the ferry vs taking the bus..very hot we were by the time we started a guided tour. The tour was ok, really missed the behind the scenes tour of seeing various animals up and in person. Please bring back the behind the scenes tour. And, I also missed their wonderful walk in Aviary , The tour guide was very nice.

We had a great tour of the Australian section of Zoo by amazing volunteers, Deb and Penny! We were the only two on the tour. We highly recommend that you book it.

The guides were very knowledgeable and generous with sharing information allowing us sufficient time to absorb everything. The information provided was not confined to animals in the outback but to the whole zoo. They also answered our questions very patiently.

The zoo volunteer who took us around was very knowledgeable about Australian animals. For about an hour he took us around the Australian animal section. We felt however he was rushing and impatient when we wanted to look longer at an animal or take pictures.

Great afternoon with family at the zoo. Used the Sydney harbor ferry services to learn how to get to the zoo, and -Above all-a perfect overview ,at the start our Australian trip , to identify the unique wildlife to be found here.

Couldn’t wait to get there and Then😞 This poor Lonley Tiger not moving on top of a hut style man made object lifted its head in sorrow and then didn’t move and just closed its eyes “ not sue what I was expecting “ It seemed lifeless Then off to the lions and seen two lions with no activity at all actually they didn’t move Apes and monkeys were no better the group of monkeys looked lost and bored The food at the cafeteria yes very dear but i expected that. I found walking around that this zoo is very spread out with not much action or shows at all. I was expecting a 9:30 show of some kind 10:30 show a 12:30. show 2 o’clock feeding of some kind but they were very very rare and it all depends on what side of the park and where you were to get to them at the appropriate time. Silly me I was expecting an entry sign of all feeding times and shows. There were a lot of volunteers showing maps and directions on entry. We also think if they had a staff member or volunteer at some animal displays explaining food, breeding life span etc.. any information would have been great. Also, I watched a lot of elderly people struggle. There is a lot of uphills a lot of stairs and I just didn’t think it was 100% wheelchair friendly or stroller for most families that we past. It our opinion It’s really from what we could observe it’s not really for babies or kiddies under 5 day out they find it rather tiring at their age On the day that we went we left after 2 hours very disappointed from what was there and surroundings. Found getting there by walking up and down hills from arriving on a ferry was ridiculous to the entry gate This especially for the elderly and people with strollers and children and babies. Once the buses are packed there’s no other option you must walk up hills and when you leave downhills probably not the best way in a wet seasons to visit as you would be rather wet. P You can take your own food and drinks and they do sell a small amount of alcohol Thank goodness the elephant moved and the giraffes came out of their little hideaway Overall disappointing day. We were excepting an exciting day and leave with an amount of knowledge which we have seen from other zoo we visited. Visited 6/12/24
