Visiting French Polynesia in August 2025? Take a taxi boat from the Teahupoo marina to the Teahupoo break to see the world's best surfers compete at the Tahiti Pro. You'll witness the best surfers in the world surfing the best waves in the world and you can be part of the show. Your experienced captain, who grew up surfing and driving boats, will drive you right in front of the action! You have the choice to view the action from the rooftop of the boat for the best guaranteed view, or to catch the action from inside the boat. Spaces are limited so book early to avoid disappointment. Your taxi boat departs and returns from the marina of Teahupo'o, located approximately 45 miles (75 kms) from Papeete. You will need to make your own way to the marina to join the tour by hiring a car or renting a taxi (at own expense).

5.00Having watched the WSL over the years to say tv does not do Chopes justice is an understatement! The force of the wave is just phenomenal and the conditions were far from optimal when we visited. We arrived after the WSL event had finished but Haunui was more than accommodating in terms of fitting us in to ensure we still had an experience that will long live in the memory. Haunui’s knowledge of the break and Teahupoo was only bettered by his boat skills to put you in the perfect spot for a close up, perfect view (thankfully no Tahitian tattoo for us). His passion for the local area and culture only added to the experience. This is a trip I would repeat in a heartbeat and would recommend to anyone and everyone.

1.00Don’t book this!!! We booked for the surf competition with their advertised dates and the surf competition wasn’t even going on the date that they said! Just have a local take you out if you wanna see the wave. 30$ per person and they are available everywhere.

5.00Our guide was so friendly and took us up close to the surfers practicing! What an experience! We were out for over an hour and a half and you can even climb to the upper lookout for a better view!

3.00Our meeting place was changed without any notification which meant when we were finally able to go it was an hour later than planned. Apparently an e mail was sent but I received nothing. We were then advised there was an additional fee for parking due to the venue change. The trip itself was good but was let down by poor communication.

5.00This was such a cool experience watching the TahitiPro surfers qualifying for the Olympics. The captain was awesome and literally got us on top of the wave to watch the surfers and see the incredible Teahupo’o wave. So worth it even if there’s not a surf competition going on, just the wave is amazing.

5.00Fantastic team, super helpful and friendly throughout the booking experience and the trip itself. The boat provides the best viewing on the waves, with comfort and safety. We loved every moment. This was the highlight of our trip, cannot recommend enough. Māuruuru.

5.00You have to choose the Teahupoo Adventure if you are thinking of going to watch this competition. They are the absolute best team and give you the best experience possible. We couldn’t stop taking trips out because of how close they got us to the action! Everyone was extremely kind and we even got lucky enough to take the last ride of the day with the whole team including their amazing 6 month old dog! Next time we are in Teahupoo, we will be booking plenty of trips with this amazing group. Thank you all so much for the absolute best time!!
