I can't rate this tour highly enough. The knowledge of Rimas about his island and the tea plantations was something to behold. The tour started among the tea trees, passed through one of the local villages and then proceeded to the factory itself. Time taken from plucking of the leaf to tea in the sack for delivery under 24 hours! We will remember the tea plucking ladies from Sri Lanka when we drink our tea from now on. Thank you for showing us the whole process and giving us a glimpse of such a different way of life. Fascinating!

This was an amazing tour! Rimas was really interesting, clear, incredibly knowledgeable and very kind. Super interesting history, lovely walk through the tea fields (photographers delight!), learned about the plants, the way of living for these communities, and the manufacturing process, break in the middle for tea and cake, then TukTuk ride to the factory to see that side! So glad I booked in; you won’t regret it.

Really fascinating and very interesting experience. During the tour we discovered a lot of curiosities about the history of tea and how it is deeply linked to the history and culture of the country, in particular the period of colonization and the development of plantations by the British. The tour lasted about 3 hours and was organized very well. We started by visiting the plantations, where we saw directly in the field how the harvest takes place and learned to recognize the different types of tea. We also visited the village where freshly picked leaves are brought. Afterwards we had a pleasant break with a typical English breakfast, tasting local black tea accompanied by biscuits, a very authentic and relaxing moment. The final part took place in the factory, where they explained in clear and detailed detail all the processing steps, from the fresh leaf to the final product, including the production, selection and export processes. Special thanks to our guide, Rimas: young, very knowledgeable, passionate and really kind. He spoke excellent English and made the tour even more interesting and engaging. Experience that I absolutely recommend to anyone who really wants to understand the world of tea.

We had an amazing tour with Rimas. He’s super knowledgeable and passionate about all things tea. The walk was steady with brief talks along the way which made it feel leisurely. The landscape is phenomenally picturesque and peaceful. The various talks focused on different aspects of tea growing and manufacturing and the factory part was really interesting too, not to mention the amazing scent of green tea throughout! And we tasted 5 types of tea at the end. Rimas has a very friendly and engaging style, asking questions which made it fun and interactive. We had our 10-year-old with us and he said he loved it too! Great to see tea estates back in Sri Lankan hands; long may they prosper! Can’t recommend this tour highly enough!

Highly highly recommend if you want a true understanding of how tea is grown, processed, and sold in Sri Lanka. This isn’t about selling you tea (in fact, they don’t sell any to customers); it is about learning and is informative and amazing!

A truly excellent and authentic tea tour, taking in the fields, local village life, economy and full production process, including the weighing station and a working tea factory. Our guide, Rimas, was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about history, culture, economy, and tea production. This is a much better tour than the bi touristy factories which get you through as quickly as possible so you can spend more time in their shops. No shop here, just a proper, honest, working tea estate.

We had the best time!! Rimas is a very good and passionate guide and the knowledge he shared with us was incredible. We learned so much about tea, where it comes from, how it is earned and exported. If you are in the area i would highly recommend to do the tour with him. It is a must see!

Wow! What an experience. Rimas our Tea expert & guide created such an excellent 3hr tour. Walking through the stunning tea fields in a small group whilst learning about Sri Lanka & its tea history, to a tea & cake break followed by the most insightful Tea factory tour understanding the world of the Tea industry & seeing the incredible process of how a perfect Ceylon cuppa is made. Not only that but Rimas was really helpful in securing us nearby accommodation at the Royal Majesty Bungalow which was lovely & being a great & helpful communicator with any questions I had too. All in all it was a really wonderful experience and I highly recommend it to anybody looking for a really in-depth, warm & fun learning outing in such a beautiful country.
