This was a super tea tour. We were supplied with anti leech socks and umbrellas before we started. Rimas our guide is an agriculture graduate and works at the tea plantation and was extremely knowledgeable. His English was perfect and he gave us the information in an entertaining and accessible way. We had a break at Royal Majesty Bungalow with tea and cake before visiting the tea factory. The factory was a revelation. They are still using some of the machines that are over 100 years old but working really well. Doing this tour gave us a real insight into the whole tea production process and also into the very hard lives of the female tea pluckers and also the men who work in the estate and in the factory. Highly recommend it and thank you to Rimas and Royal Majesty Bungalow.

This is an amazing experience! If you want to see the real tea fields and learn about the history of Ceylon tea, the environment, the biology and the real lives of the people who work in the tea industry from the pickers to the factory staff and have an authentic experience with no after sales ( in fact there is not even a shop ) then this is a must. Amaris ( I think that’s spelt right) our guide actually works on the plantation and is very knowledgeable about the whole process. Honestly we can rate this experience high enough, you will leave with a much better understanding of the everyday life of tea plantation and the people who work there and hopefully , like us, very humbled by the experience.

Engaging, entertaining, enlightening and thoroughly enjoyable. Rimaz took us through the history, biology & socio-economics of tea growing in Sri Lanka in a very adept, accessible, informative and knowledgeable way - as we walked through Ireby tea plantation and the teapickers' village & then travelled by tuk-tuk to the Norwood Estate tea processing centre. This is amongst the best tours that we have been on (and we have been on a fair few!) We are now aware of and appreciate the laborious process that goes into each cup of tea.

  • What a wonderful experience!!!

In the Heart of Ceylon's Tea region, we experienced the full "plant to pot" process. It was really an amazing experience! The guide passed on to us all his passion and knowledge of this world. Now we can understand how much hard work goes into a single cup of tea!

This was an outstanding tour. Rimas is a superb guide who really knows his stuff. The toy guides you through the plantation giving information in different segments which makes it easily understandable. Rimas took us through history, biology, economy and culture of the plantation all with interesting facts and information. The factory tour surprised me with how fascinating the manufacture and sale of tea is and the machinery in use is amazing. One of the best tours of this kind that I have done. 10/10.

The best experience of our trip to Hatton: – The guide was very clear in his explanations and knew many things - Visit to the fields, a nearby village and the factory, time passed very quickly - Very nice Welcoming (we had a lot of lead so we waited at the bengalows) - No shop visit to buy tea etc so very nice to FINALLY have an activity that does not catch tourists

We had a lovely time on the tour, Rimas was an excellent guide! He was very knowledgeable about the history of the tea plantation and how it operated. It was a leisurely walk through the tea fields (Rimas even took photos of us). We got to see the tea pickers and learnt about how they weigh the leaves. Then a short tuk tuk ride to the tea factory where we got to see the inner workings of the factory and leant about the ways they create all the different teas, and what makes them so special - very cool!

  • An unforgettable tea experience

Thanks to him, we gained a deep appreciation for the art and history of tea. He made the whole experience engaging and memorable. From now on, we’ll never drink a cup of tea without thinking of this journey. Highly recommended!
