Tequila Tasting is an experience of Tequila O'clock, a place owned by a person originally from the town of Tequila Jalisco, this will ensure you an authentic way of discovering this ancient spirit of Mexico.

In Holbox, this is the unique place where you can enjoy of more than 50 different tequilas.

Tequila Tasting experience is the best way to know how tequila is produced, where, what categories and types exist, what are the best ways of enjoying it and how to recognize an authentic one.

During this tasting we will talk about the organoleptic characteristics of this drink and you'll be able to experience them by yourself.

What To Expect

This experience begins at "Tequila O'clock", a place dedicated to the Tequila with the largest tequila collection in Holbox Island. We will welcome you with a delicious cocktail, while we start talking about the origins of the drink, the process, the different ways of drinking it. Then we will continue to taste 3 different tequilas 100% agave: blanco, reposado & añejo, we'll explain you the categories and types of the Tequila, surrounded of a mexican ambience with great music and cozy environment. We finish the tour with recommendations of how to identify an authentic Tequila.

My husband and I attended the Tequila Tasting at Tequila O’Clock a couple of weeks ago, and it was a wonderful experience. We were greeted with a delicious margarita made with tequila blanco, which set the tone perfectly. The space itself was very clean, warm, and inviting. We were escorted to a table with three pours of tequila for each of us, each glass covered with what I understand to be a Mexican bingo card to help contain the aromas. Erika was amazing—warm, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable. She walked us through the entire process of harvesting and producing tequila and mezcal, and taught us how to identify authentic tequila. We really enjoyed chatting with her and learning from her expertise. She also served delicious cheese and olives alongside the tasting, which helped cleanse our palates between pours. My only complaint was that the music was very, very loud, and we had to ask a couple of times for it to be turned down—which felt odd given that we were there to listen and learn about the tequila-making process. Overall, if you’re interested in learning more about tequila or simply want to stop by for excellent margaritas while in Holbox, I highly recommend Tequila O’Clock.

Erika, our host/guide, knew a great deal about the history of the tequila. She comes from the region of Tequila and you can feel her genuine interest and enthusiasm. We started by getting a margarita as a welcome drink, then being guided to taste 3 lovely tequilas. Erika guided on how to both smell and taste correctly. In addition also how tequila is made and how to know the difference between the different kinds. Fun and interesting experience as a couple, but would also be fun for family or group of friends. Cozy intimate place, which is located right on the main street at Holbox. I would recommend everyone to get a glimpse of the history of the Tequila at the Tequila O’clock.

Partner and I did the Tequila tasting and then came back for cocktails and tequila later in our stay. The tasting was great, a lot of information to take in but you will leave with a lot more knowledge then you entered with even if you forget half of it! As good as the tequila options are, the cocktails are the best we had on our trip across Mexico, all were perfectly balanced and expertly made.

My friend and I had a great time with this experience. We were handed what may be the best margarita we've ever had when we walked in. After a brief set up an employee talked to us about how and where tequila is made and how to read the bottles. We then got to sample four more tequilas, and he explained the flavors and differences. It was fun and informative! We would recommend this experience to anyone who likes tequila and wants to learn about it.

We loved this activity in Holbox. We received margaritas to sip on at the beginning while we learned all about tequila and how to properly taste. Then we tasted 3 different kinds and learned about each. Our is tractor was very knowledgeable and friendly, and the tequila was great! Thank you!!!

We had a wonderful time and will take our new Tequila tasting skills and put them to the test! Haha Experience was the perfect amount of time to taste some different tequilas, be educated about the history, and just chat prior to going out to eat.

Omg what an incredible experience! Erika took so much time to answer our questions and shared so much of her knowledge with us. The bar was lovely, the experience wonderful, the host INCREDIBLE, and the tequila delicious. Highly recommend! I also recommend checking this bar out regardless - they do tequila flights and Erika is so good at guiding you towards new and interesting options from all over Mexico!

We spent two lovely afternoons having drinks at Tequila O’ Clock. Erica, the owner, gave us such an interesting tequila tasting! Mauro made the most delicious cocktails. And we were given delicious snacks and a margarita taster on the house. This is a really classy restaurant, located in the heart of Holbox. It has airconditioning, so is a great escape from the late afternoon heat!

They are both amazing people professionals from top to bottom, with an otherworldly knowledge knowing perfectly both provenance and culture, playing all the topics from simple notes of a flavor to something more complex as give you to try a pairing of insects with crazy mezcal will definitely return!!
