No large bags or suitcases are allowed inside the museum, only handbags or small thin bag packs are allowed through security. Due to increased security measures at many attractions some lines may form on tours with 'Skip the Line' or 'No Wait' access. Some specific rooms inside the museum are subjected to a very quiet or restricted right to speak inside, in this cases your guide will provide the information about this places before entering the specific rooms where this rule applies. Some collections may vary along the year.

What To Expect

The British Museum

Trade in paintings for mummies and historical artifacts on a tour of the British Museum. Our tour by James was OUTSTANDING in all aspects. He was extremely knowledgeable of the Museum, its displays, and the historical events surrounding each displays. James ensured all of the important/special displays were visited first so that we among the first to see them before the crowds gathered. Highly recommend to get the first tour, like we did, so we got up close to the displays before the crowds got too large. James timing and strategic approach to our visit really helped. Also recommend the small group tour as this really helped to individualize our requests, which James was perfect at providing. An EXCELLENT tour that my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed, and highly recommend!

The British Museum is massive and can be overwhelming with the number of artifacts it houses. This was a great tour to get an overview of some of the highlights. We had limited time, and it was perfect for our group. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the subject matter, but made it easy to follow for those that may have shorter attention spans - ie, younger teens/kids.

Fun and informative! Matilda took us to see some of the most famous exhibits on display at the British Museum and gave insightful commentaries on each of them. We talked plenty about the context behind the artifacts and the pressing matter of repatriation. Matilda is funny and sweet, and she made the tour a great experience.

The highlight tour with Matilda was excellent for all 4 of us. She adapted to our different interests and could find us a place to sit occasionally. Her insights and historical context were spot on and we had an excellent discussion regarding the British collection of objects from around the world and the requests by countries to have objects returned.
