Whilst experience riding an electric bike is not necessary (we'll provide an orientation and we'll do a test ride to make sure you're comfortable before we head off), you must of course be able to ride a bike! If you haven't ridden in a while, for your enjoyment/safety and that of your fellow riders, we strongly recommend you have a practice riding at home before your visit to Auckland. As well as riding on our wonderful cycleways, we will of course be riding in the road at times (to get to the good places!). Riding in traffic is a dynamic environment, so you will need to be comfortable riding in the road in order to enjoy the tour. And Auckland's volcanic past means that there a quite few hills to go up and down - the eBikes make going up easy, but you'll obviously need to be able to ride downhill! If you’d prefer a shorter, easier ride along Auckland’s beautiful waterfront - check out The Easy Rider, one of our other tour listings!
Closed toe shoes are required. Sports gear not necessary, casual clothes are fine but dress to the conditions please.
Free storage available for small bags at the city centre departure point.
The tours run rain or shine, you will be provided free use of a bright and comfortable rain jacket, if you need one.
Our electric bikes are designed with a maximum weight capacity of 250 pounds (113 kg).
We recommend you bring sunscreen - the sun in NZ can be very harsh.
You may also wish to bring a bottle of water with you for the ride. You can store that in the bag on your bike. The is also a water fountain near our departure point - if you need to fill up your water bottle.
Whilst we welcome solo riders, this experience requires a minimum number of riders booked in order for it to go ahead (2). If it’s cancelled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll either be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.
For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.

The sun finally came out today. What a difference that makes. Our guide Ruben was awesome, especially when the battery on his e-bike went out. He helped us maneuver Auckland traffic. Quite the experience to ride bikes on the (sorry Ruben) wrong side of the road. Mt Eden was spectacular to see.

The tour uses power assist bikes which can be set to varying levels of power when you pedal. This give good control and is very handy with stop and start urban routes. The steepest hills are easy. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and had many good insights on Auckland, and New Zealand history and culture.

Matt was a wonderful guide around the city and answered all of our questions about the complex history of Auckland & New Zealand! The individual ear phones were amazing! It allowed him to tell us about things as we rode by. Loved it!

This excursion is a great way to see Auckland. Bikes were high quality and easy to use (my wife had not ridden an e-bike before), with great power to climb hilly Auckland. Our guide was very informative and narration through individual headsets was very good. Felt safe riding primarily on trails. Tour started and ended very near the ship. The pictures, videos and our ride animation were a wonderful bonus to this wonderful experience. Big thumbs up!

What a GREAT bike tour. Our guide, Eddie, was fantastic and I really appreciated the small group size! We learned so much about the history of the Maori people and Auckland in general. Beautiful scenery, and the electric bike (with BOOST) really helped getting up to the top of Mount Eden. Such a spectacular experience; HIGHLY recommend to anyone visiting Auckland.

Really enjoyable trip taking in lots of places we would have otherwise missed. The waterfront area was good to explore, another highlight Mount Eden with amazing views across the city. Electric bike made light work of steep inclines and headwind!

We love bike tours and this one was great! We saw so much, explored areas we would never have gone to or known about, covered so much ground and the electric bikes were brill when it came to the inclines or a headwind. View from Mount Eden across the city and beyond was amazing. It was lots of fun and very relaxed, Eddie was a great guide and the headsets you wear are very non-intrusive and keep you informed about what you are seeing, plus instructions for stopping, turning etc.

When visiting new cities we like to do e-bike tours to get oriented and learn about some highlights of the city. This was one of the best tours we have been on. Our guide Reuben was excellent. He did a great job explaining upcoming routes and reminding us to keep left (good for those of us used to riding on the right). This company uses a wireless communication system so all riders could hear the guide - a first for us and really helpful.

This is the tour you should take when you first arrive in Auckland. The scenery and the information that's provided is exceptional. The e bikes are up to date models, easy to operate and fun to rides. Our tour guide Eddie made sure we were all comfortable with the operation of the bikes and had us take a quick test drive to assess our comfort with this type of bike. the bike paths in Auckland are amazing and due to this fact there was very little distance travel on the roadways.
