The Deathly Dark Tour of York is a grim and theatrical, dark comedy walking tour, perfect for those who have a bit of a wicked streak and are looking to explore the dark and spooky history of the city with one of our guides, famous for their wonderfully dark sense of humour.
Please note, this is NOT a scare attraction, it is a storytelling experience.
The tour is family friendly, but some may find the stories frightening. Children must remain with their parent/guardian at all times.
Tour group size is 20-50 people, although this will change depending on the season. Private and small group tours are available on request.

5.00My partner and I really enjoyed ourselves. The tour guide was extremely funny yet a bit creepy. A good amount of walking around york. We really enjoyed it but had to miss the last stop due to a medical emergency

5.00Ten of us booked this for a uni friends' reunion. Dalton was a great guide and made the tour really fun and funny. He seemed to tailor it to our group's humour as he went along. It was just the right length of time and amount of walking. We liked how he used noises around him for comic effect. Highly recommended. 👏

5.00Absolutely freezing outside unfortunately but Davina made the experience theatrical, fun and really informative. Learned a lot about the history of York and its spooky past. Thank you for a great experience. A lot of standing in the cold so if you have younger children you might want to consider doing the tour in the warmer months.

5.00This is a fun, theatrical, storytelling “show” around the beautiful streets of York. We saw a few corners of the city we’d not been to ourselves, as well as some of the main tourist spots, but as it’s in the evening it’s quieter and more atmospheric. Daria Deathly was very good; great at storytelling and building the atmosphere but with humour thrown in, sometimes when you weren’t expecting it… my daughter nearly spat her drink out when the children’s hands appeared :-) Thank you for a thoroughly entertaining 90 minutes!

5.00My friends & I were supposed to attend this tour last year but had to cancel due to a family emergency. They very kindly allowed us to transfer the booking to this year’s annual York trip. From the moment Dafydd arrived we knew we were in for a treat. I haven’t laughed like that in such a long time. The tour was brilliant fun and at times, genuinely a bit spooky. Dafydd was just fantastic. Hilarious and entertaining and the stories he told had made me come away wanting to look up more of York’s ghoulish history. The group we were with all seemed to have the same sense of humour so the vibes were good and despite the drizzly rain, a fab time was had by all. Tiny high fives all round 🤚🏻 The best theatrical ghost tour I’ve ever done and let’s not forget the great customer service too. Thank you!
