The Deathly Dark Tour of York is a grim and theatrical, dark comedy walking tour, perfect for those who have a bit of a wicked streak and are looking to explore the dark and spooky history of the city with one of our guides, famous for their wonderfully dark sense of humour.
Please note, this is NOT a scare attraction, it is a storytelling experience.
The tour is family friendly, but some may find the stories upsetting. If you have a specific phobia or trigger please reach out to us before booking.
Children must remain with their parent/guardian at all times.
Tour group size is 20-50 people, although this will change depending on the season. Private and small group tours are available on request.

5.00A great way to take in some history and be entertained at the same time. Pleased we did this on our first night in the city, a good introduction. Daffyd was theatrical and projected his voice, so I had no problems hearing although I wear hearing aids. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a relaxed tour.

5.00My hubby & I enjoyed this tour. Deathly Dante was very entertaining with great story telling & a sense of humour. He involved members of our 45 group. I always thought such a large group would be a disadvantage but this was not the case. Dante stayed in character from start to finish. This was more of a theatrical experience rather than a documentary type of experience but still very enjoyable and we would recommend. Thank you

3.00Maybe we're not the right people for a ghost tour but we saw it as a top attraction and wanted to give it a go. The stories seemed to be mostly about children dying in horrific and gory ways and didn't feel very entertaining for us.

5.00We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Our tour guide, David, was hilarious and we could not stop laughing. He also answered all of our questions at the end of the tour and made our visit to York very memorable:). Highly recommend to anyone visiting York.

5.00Absolutely superb tour with Daria on Sunday 3rd May! Her storytelling and performance abilities are phenomenal and she had the large tour group in the palm of her (teeny tiny) hands. Her retelling of the Plague house story was particularly beautiful. We had such a good time and told her so afterwards, but wanted to write a review too. Booking at least one Deathly Dark tour during your visit to York is a must!
