The Deathly Dark Tour of York is a grim and theatrical, dark comedy walking tour, perfect for those who have a bit of a wicked streak and are looking to explore the dark and spooky history of the city with one of our guides, famous for their wonderfully dark sense of humour.
Please note, this is NOT a scare attraction, it is a storytelling experience.
The tour is family friendly, but some may find the stories frightening. Children must remain with their parent/guardian at all times.
Tour group size is 20-50 people, although this will change depending on the season. Private and small group tours are available on request.

5.00Very entertaining, funny and lots of information about the old York City. With Ghost stories , and local history. DAVID Was excellent 👏 Not too much walking, lots of stops for him to tell his stories.

5.00Dante Deathly was a superb tour guide! We were a bit concerned at the start when we realised there were 40 people on the tour (I’m hard of hearing and had forgotten my hearing aids!) But I could hear every word - he projected so well, was so engaging and theatrical throughout, captivating us all with amazing stories of ghosts and ghouls! There were some really great stops along the way, with plenty of space so you can hear. He was so charasmatic and funny too, with a great costume, and plenty stories of history and haunted pubs and gruesome pasts. We really enjoyed every minute and would like to thank him for a really enjoyable evening!

5.00Our guide, Darreth I believe, was an absolute hoot. He made the best of the torrential downpour that happened on our tour and had the entire crowd laughing. This was super fun for an evening in York.

5.00What an adventure this was. From storytelling, to jokes, to on spot improv, involving the audience, dark and light humour, you get it all. And not to mention that you get to see majority of famous spots of York (city centre). It was a little cold towards the end, but then again it's December and 9 in the evening. Dress accordingly, the tour was pet friendly too, if you have a 4 legged friend, bring them with!! Would go again.

5.00First time I've ever joined one of these tours. I must say I had an unexpected amazing time!! The humour was on point and the stories were ghastly! Loved the storytelling of our guide, he engaged the group which made it even more entertaining. 100/10 would recommend!!!

5.00For the size of the crowd our guide was accommodating to all, interacted with nearly everyone and gave the two our us a walk to remember! Dafydd was great, gave us some great historical insight too considering he was Welsh! A walking tour filled with innuendos and belly laughs, would highly recommend this for anyone coming to York who’s got a keen interest in history and ghastly tales!

5.00Personally I’m not the biggest fan of for stories but my girlfriend was. Nevertheless the tour guide we had, David, really sold it for me. He was enthusiastic, entertaining and was actually funny to listen and watch.
