The Deathly Dark Tour of York is a grim and theatrical, dark comedy walking tour, perfect for those who have a bit of a wicked streak and are looking to explore the dark and spooky history of the city with one of our guides, famous for their wonderfully dark sense of humour.
Please note, this is NOT a scare attraction, it is a storytelling experience.
The tour is family friendly, but some may find the stories upsetting. If you have a specific phobia or trigger please reach out to us before booking.
Children must remain with their parent/guardian at all times.
Tour group size is 20-50 people, although this will change depending on the season. Private and small group tours are available on request.

5.00This was a fun tour of York. Our guide was a terrific storyteller- dramatic, articulate and funny. Would be more atmospheric in the dark, but the upside - it was a lovely warm spring night for our walk.

5.00Absolutely fantastic experience. Davina Deathly was so entertaining, dramatic and funny. I have mobility problems, but the pace was not too fast and there were a couple of chances to sit, so I was able to keep up with everyone else. Thoroughly enjoyed it, and would definitely recommend.

5.00Funny and informative, Dalton was a great host and had everyone laughing. There were a number of children in our group and he was brilliant with them. This is a fantastic way to see York and the deadly stories were fascinating.

5.00We had such good fun with “David (Welsh pronunciation) the Deathly” who was a fantastic host. Played his character very well indeed, and was hilarious (but spooky too). Well worth the fee. Thank you.

5.00The ghost tour was amazing, if i could rate higher than 5 i would do! We had Dalton as our guide and he was fantastic! He greeted everyone as they checked in and made everyone feel welcome, He has a great personality which i think bodes well, no one wants a tour with someone who is boring. He was very informative and had a great sense of humour too, we had a chat with him at the end! We wish it was on for longer

4.00Our Deathly Dark Tour of York was a fun-filled tour of stories delivered by our tour guide who did a great job of entertaining us with both her stories and delivery in secluded parts of the city (where it was easy to hear). It wasn’t dark and the stories weren’t scary, but they entertained us, made us laugh and gave us a chance to see more of the city.

5.00Such a great tour! Funny and spooky but not too scary. Declan Deathly was a great story teller, pitching his tales at just the right level to keep kids and adults entertained. A nice amount of York history was also woven through the tour.
