The Deathly Dark Tour of York is a grim and theatrical, dark comedy walking tour, perfect for those who have a bit of a wicked streak and are looking to explore the dark and spooky history of the city with one of our guides, famous for their wonderfully dark sense of humour.
Please note, this is NOT a scare attraction, it is a storytelling experience.
The tour is family friendly, but some may find the stories upsetting. If you have a specific phobia or trigger please reach out to us before booking.
Children must remain with their parent/guardian at all times.
Tour group size is 20-50 people, although this will change depending on the season. Private and small group tours are available on request.

5.00Excellent. Cold and windy night under the threat of rain, I had concerns for the group and for our guide Davina that everyone hadn't yet packed away the thermals. Tour was delivered with such enjoyable verve. This is a theatrcial tour, it says it on the tin, and the stories, interesting in themselves, come alive with quality performance. Delivered in spades. Hats off, well done, thank you kindly.

5.00Even as someone who's not usually a fan of horror and ghost stories, I really enjoyed this tour. Dafydd was a fantastic tour guide - charismatic, funny and a wonderful storyteller. And an extra shoutout to how well he dealt with the teenagers outside Clifford's Tower, who kept trying to shout at him and disrupt the tour. He absolutely held his own and didn't let them spoil our experience.

5.00A wonderfully spooky and dramatic tour. Full of local lore and history told by a very entertaining Davina Deathly. It was rainy, cold and windy…excellent conditions for night time tour of York! 100% would recommend to anyone wanting a fun way to see the city, I would say definitely book an evening slot as the dark makes all the difference and the tour guides play on that really well.

5.00I booked last minute and it was the best spontaneous decision ever made. Davina Devine was our tour guide and she had me enthralled! Such a talented story teller, she painted the most incredibly spooky stories I could picture everything so vividly. Not to mention amazing with the crowd with her humour. Genuinely awesome experience! 10/10 would do again.

5.00Me and my daughter did the Deathly Dark Tour last night and when I say Dante made our whole weekend, I mean it. He really has found his calling..... knowledgeable and beyond entertaining, he had us gripped the whole time. He was also incredibly funny. He is so charismatic. Thank you so much. We will be back very soon. Thanks Dante, for making our Mother and Daughter weekend so memorable.

5.00My partner and I had a fab time with Dalton as our guide! We learnt a lot about some spooky ghost stories aswell as seeing lots of York. Highly recommended and well worth the fee.

5.00Just fantastic, Deathly Daria was immense from the first second, so knowledgeable and entertaining. Not something we have done before but this was such a great night, would definitely recommend.
