What To Expect

Ananda Tours

Ananda, Sanskirt meaning ‘bliss, pleasure and happiness’, provide personalised inspirational tours highlighting the very best of Waiheke. Our close relationships with local providers and highly-knowledgeable local guides ensure that visitors to the island have a memorable and enjoyable experience. Discover for yourself why Waiheke is world-renowned for its wines. Visit three of the Island's fine vineyards with one of our local guides, all of whom have completed a Bob Campbell Diploma course and are wine enthusiasts themselves. Vineyards will be chosen according to seasonal availability. Your guide will pick you up from the Fullers ferry ex-Auckland, or, if you are staying on the Island, from your accommodation (please contact us for a pick up time) On the way, stunning scenery is around every corner, and you will be entertained by your guide’s commentary on the history, geography, culture, people and produce of Waiheke. The tour includes a two-hour lunch stop at a village or beachside café, or, for a memorable gourmet experience, at one of our top vineyard restaurants. Lunch is at your own expense on the day. If you have somewhere inparticular in mind, please let us know at the time of booking, otherwise we will book you into one of our favorites. After lunch you will be be returned to your accommodation or to the ferry back to Auckland.

This was a fantastic experience and a lovely way to experience Waiheke! Michael was a fantastic guide and was well equipped to share all of his knowledge about the island. The vineyards we visited were exceptional. We were so thankful for their selection of vineyards and hospitality. They even offered to drop us off in the village to explore more on our own!

Grant met us and showed us around the island giving us so many pointers along the way, Grant was extremely friendly and very passionate about the island where he lives, the tour was a great success amongst all the wine buffs even those who were not so much into their wine had a great time, I'm sure we will be back in the not to distant future.

Craig was our guide and very kind. We got a good tour of the island and three great wineries. Lunch at 372 was lovely. Overall, great outing!

Our tour guide Craig drove our group of six all over the island, where we visited three wineries, including Mudbrick, followed by a delicious lunch at Restaurant 372. We had a great time learning about local wines (and sampling them) and enjoyed getting to know our companions on the tour. This is a great way that's not too pricey to see the island and go wine tasting.

The tour was well organized. Our guide/driver, Craig, was excellent. The choice of vineyards was very good. The tour could be a bit longer because we were rushed towards the end. The first vineyard had the most knowledgeable staff. Overall we enjoyed the experience and would do it again, and recommend to others.

Fantastic day. The wines were great and the people were friendly. Shout out in particular to our guide, who when I realised I'd left a bag at the previous winery, went back and got it for me.
