Mt. Hachimen is a landmark mountain for the area. It is called "Hachimen" (which means Eight-Faced) because it looks nearly the same from every direction. In ancient times, it was a sacred mountain for Shugendo (a form of mountain asceticism) and a center of mountain worship, and there are many historical sites related to this tradition. The clusters of giant rocks, once objects of worship, remain in their natural state, allowing you to directly feel the powerful energy of the earth.
