Musee d'Orsay
Discover the essence of art over the last two centuries with this Private Musée d’Orsay Tour. Delve into the realms of Contemporary, Realist, Pointillist, Cubist, and Impressionist masterpieces, spanning from 1848 to the brink of World War I in 1914. The Orsay, housing one of the world's largest collections of Impressionist and post-Impressionist treasures, undergoes dynamic exhibit rotations to showcase its extensive repertoire. Originally conceived as an electric train station for the 1899 Universal Exhibition in Paris, the Musee d’Orsay's architectural journey unfolds. Transformed from its brief stint as a train station with outdated platforms due to rapid train evolution, this metal structure enveloped in limestone, mirroring the neighboring Louvre and Musee l’Orangerie, has witnessed diverse uses. From wartime mail sorting to cinematic backdrops, it wasn't until the early 1970s that Paris initiated its metamorphosis into the world-renowned museum it stands as today.

Grigor WAS THE BEST!! Front of the line, behind the scenes and every back door access to areas of the palace that we had all to ourselves. His knowledge & experience was captivating and informative. 100% recommended!! My wife, 10 yr old twins and I can’t say enough about our new favorite experience in France!

Vivianne was an excellent tour guide who spoke perfect english and communicated all the important facts of the more important paintings to us. She never rushed us and never overwhelmed us with too much information. She perfectly gauged our pace and information level and also engaged in nice casual conversation so we felt like we were at the museum with a knowledgeable friend showing us the highlights

Our guide today was Adam who was the best tour guide I have had in the many years of visiting museums in the US and here in Europe. He is very well educated in many aspects of art and of the Impressionists especially. From the colors of paint to the cultural influences and prejudices of the times. Today I learned things about these painters I had never heard before. Like how money and the lack thereof shaped the art world before and during the Impressionist movement as well as who was a rebel and whose physical and mental challenges shaped their work and why. Adam loves art history and is a gifted teacher who learned our names and welcomed questions. His mission seems to be to deepen his guidees love and appreciation not just of the art but for the artists themselves. Well done, Adam and thank you. I can never look at a Degas again in the same way or a Van Gogh without feeling his anguish.
