A professional English speaking tour guide will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to the
killing fields of Choeung Ek Genocide Center – 9 miles away south of Phnom Penh. The infamous killing fields have a bloody history. Once an orchard and a
Chinese cemetery, the Khmer Rouge, lead by Pol Pot, turned the place into
what became known as the killing fields, where they executed around 20.000 victim. Over three years they massacred and
buried 2.5 million people. After remembering the dead, return to Phnom Penh to visit Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S21). Meaning hill of the poisonous trees, Pol Pot turned a once popular
high school into a high security prison. 20,000 people were imprisoned
there, many of whom were tortured for information. Today it serves as a
museum and a reminder of darker days.

The tour led by Mr. Visal Sem was excellent. Our guide not only provided us with in-depth information about the historical context and the events of the genocide carried out by the Khmer Rouge, but also helped us deeply empathize with the suffering experienced by the Khmer people. It was also a valuable experience to meet survivors who have contributed to the development of collective memory of the genocide. This is an absolutely unmissable visit during a stay in Cambodia.

Sum Cheath was our guide on the tour and he was great. Communication before the tour on pick up time and dress code. Unimaginable what the Cambodian people were subjected too but I believe it is important to learn about history when you visit a country. Very emotive, thought provoking and informative tour.

Sum is very knowledgeable about the horrific acts of genocide that this country suffered. We knew it would be difficult but he spoke sensitively and explained so much to us. Great tour guide thank you. We were collected and dropped back to our hotel with cold water provided during the trip. Sum made sure nobody was left behind, we were a group of fifteen which was ideal. Thank you 🙏🏻

Our tour guide Visal kindly picked us up from our hotel when we were running late to get to the meeting point. He was very knowledgeable and engaging during the tour and struck the right balance between being respectful of the subject and imparting factual information to the group. His English language was very good-I’d highly recommend this half day tour

A very moving and at times depressing tour that reminded you of how cruel mankind can be to our brothers and sisters. Our tour guide Sum Cheath was amazing throughout the day. His knowledge of the events that took place, and respect for the victims and their families was excellent. A day my wife and I will never forget. I’d whole heartedly recommend this tour and our guide Sum Cheath.

This is a very worthwhile tour even though rather depressing. But, we all need to be reminded of the terrible things humans are capable of when empathy and humanity is replaced by hatred. Our guide was Sum CHEATH, good English and very passionate. At the Killing Fields and S21 survivors are selling books, there's no hard sell, but I'd encourage people to buy. It's a way of showing support, the books are interesting and it's a few dollars. Strongly recommend this tour.

Difficult to review such an emotional and sombre excursion but a place that needs to be honoured and remembered. Our guide was informative and friendly

Powerful and moving tour expertly guided by our brilliant tour guide Daream. Drawing on his lived experience on living through Khmer Rouge regime and his strong historical knowledge, he taught us so much and expertly guided us through the Toul Sleng and the killing field. We are very grateful for Daream sharing the history and his experiences to help our learning and to hopefully prevent other atrocities and genocides from being repeated. And huge thanks to our fantastic driver Dara who got us quickly between the sites, provided water and was very helpful!
