A professional English speaking tour guide will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to the
killing fields of Choeung Ek Genocide Center – 9 miles away south of Phnom Penh. The infamous killing fields have a bloody history. Once an orchard and a
Chinese cemetery, the Khmer Rouge, lead by Pol Pot, turned the place into
what became known as the killing fields, where they executed around 20.000 victim. Over three years they massacred and
buried 2.5 million people. After remembering the dead, return to Phnom Penh to visit Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S21). Meaning hill of the poisonous trees, Pol Pot turned a once popular
high school into a high security prison. 20,000 people were imprisoned
there, many of whom were tortured for information. Today it serves as a
museum and a reminder of darker days.

Make sure you bring cash for entry. Also if you want to buy and books written by survivors... $10 each. It's a harrowing experience but important to pay respects.

We had a good leader who explained everything to us and answered questions. Had a bus full of 15 people

The guide was a little too pushy . Whilst more time could have been spent seeing what I wanted to see on my own he was insistent that we follow him. At times it felt like we were being lectured and pontificated too. To see this is a must if you visit Cambodia Pay your respects to the Cambodian people that suffered man's in humanity to man.

Our guide today was Mr Cheath He passed on his knowledge to the group in a honest manner . Which i appreciated . The tour was insightful emontional and very humbling. I was taken aback at how many were killed and what was dome to them . Clearly humans have not learnt from the this ie Palastine and Israel . I give this tour a 10 out 10 and thank you Mr Cheath

Sun Cheath was a fantastic guide and leader on this very moving and educational tour. On the bus before we reached the fields, he gave us the history bhind it and even these stories were moving too. It's a tour not to be missed if you are in PP and highly recommended.
