A professional English speaking tour guide will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to the
killing fields of Choeung Ek Genocide Center – 9 miles away south of Phnom Penh. The infamous killing fields have a bloody history. Once an orchard and a
Chinese cemetery, the Khmer Rouge, lead by Pol Pot, turned the place into
what became known as the killing fields, where they executed around 20.000 victim. Over three years they massacred and
buried 2.5 million people. After remembering the dead, return to Phnom Penh to visit Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S21). Meaning hill of the poisonous trees, Pol Pot turned a once popular
high school into a high security prison. 20,000 people were imprisoned
there, many of whom were tortured for information. Today it serves as a
museum and a reminder of darker days.

Hard to say this is a 5 star experience as the obvious horror and suffering is so powerful and still relatively fresh. That said it’s a must do. The audio tour is a must too to get some interesting background and extra insights. Without it the visual trip alone might be lacking. Not a lot more to say other than prepare to be moved…..

It is a must see whilst in Phom Penh to be aware of the history that is still affecting a lot of the population. Cheath was our tour guide for this. His communication in advance was great, he gave us information during transpiration and also at various points during the tour. It is worth doing a tour with a guide to get a greater understanding of the Khmer Rouge. I would recommend this guided tour to others.

Mr Cheath was our guide. He gave good communication the night before and arrived promptly on the day. As expected the tour is harrowing but Mr Cheath gave us good understanding of Cambodia's dark history with a good mix of explaining and giving us time to explore ourselves.

Our group had Cheath as a tour guide. From the moment we got onto the bus he began to teach us about Cambodian history. He was very promp with communication and pick up times also. I really learned a lot today. It was a heavy day emotionally but something I would recommend that people do. Thank you Cheath for reaching me a lot of important things about Cambodia's history

Cheath was a great guide to a truely dark and ‘graphic’ history. There are graphic pictures and details that can be hard to bear witness, be prepared and don’t take children.

It was a harrowing tour but well worth the visit. The guide was knowledgeable and knew his subject. A somber afternoon which included meeting a couple of survivors.
