A professional English speaking tour guide will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to the
killing fields of Choeung Ek Genocide Center – 9 miles away south of Phnom Penh. The infamous killing fields have a bloody history. Once an orchard and a
Chinese cemetery, the Khmer Rouge, lead by Pol Pot, turned the place into
what became known as the killing fields, where they executed around 20.000 victim. Over three years they massacred and
buried 2.5 million people. After remembering the dead, return to Phnom Penh to visit Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S21). Meaning hill of the poisonous trees, Pol Pot turned a once popular
high school into a high security prison. 20,000 people were imprisoned
there, many of whom were tortured for information. Today it serves as a
museum and a reminder of darker days.

This country has a sad past.. This tour lead by Reaksa & driver , was very good, nicely explained with questions answered.. It was better to do this tour, rather than going solo with audio headphones on site.

The content of this tour is confronting and heart breaking, but learning the history is important. I had Sum Cheath as a guide, and his knowledge of the regime and atrocities was extremely impressive. His presentation was excellent. Parts of the story of the Khmer Rouge and genocide feed into complex geopolitical history, which he navigated and explained extremely well. Highly recommend requesting him.

The tour guide Sum CHEATH was fantastic. He was lovely to speak with, very knowledgeable and a great host. Highly recommend this tour, although the content is very sad, it is an important education to receive. Thanks heaps Sum CHEATH.

Sum Cheath was an excellent tour guide. He very clearly shared Cambodia's devasting history under the Khmer Rouge and gave us enough time to explore both sites by ourselves too. Communication before the tour, pick up/drop off at hotel and cold water included was greatly appreciated. A deeply saddening experience but a very important tour. A must do when visiting Phnom Penh.

Excellent tour of some very sobering sites. Our guide Sum Cheath was great , he explained everything and gave us time to explore afterwards. Overall would rate this a 5 on 5 if you want to visit these 2 sites
