A professional English speaking tour guide will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to the
killing fields of Choeung Ek Genocide Center – 9 miles away south of Phnom Penh. The infamous killing fields have a bloody history. Once an orchard and a
Chinese cemetery, the Khmer Rouge, lead by Pol Pot, turned the place into
what became known as the killing fields, where they executed around 20.000 victim. Over three years they massacred and
buried 2.5 million people. After remembering the dead, return to Phnom Penh to visit Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S21). Meaning hill of the poisonous trees, Pol Pot turned a once popular
high school into a high security prison. 20,000 people were imprisoned
there, many of whom were tortured for information. Today it serves as a
museum and a reminder of darker days.

We visited the Tuol Sleng museum and Killing Fields mass graves on the 9th March. A difficult tour…….hard to imagine how people could be so cruel and inhumane. And - incredible to listen to survivors and hear of their suffering and struggle to survive. Harrowing but necessary if anyone wants to understand Cambodia and it’s remarkable people.

This was a difficult tour to go on but it is a must do to appreciate the atrocities that were inflicted on the poor people of Cambodia. Sum Cheath was our guide and he told it as it was without any sugar coating and the facts were hard to listen to at times so be warned.

10/10 recommendation this tour to anyone visiting Cambodia. The communication prior to meeting was excellent and they even assisted me with changing my pickup location due to a delay I had. Tour guide Cheath was so informative and so kind. Thanks for everything

The nature of the tour is very traumatic but the story needs to be shared. Our guide, Mr Visal, gave us so much information for the backdrop to the genocide. Thank you to him for guiding us through. We may have walked around in silence but this was to be respectful to those who had died. A must go tour on a very hard and tragic event in Cambodia's history. Recommend going in morning as temperatures rising by mid day.

I thought the tour was a little rushed and I honestly wish I had done the audio tour, which l heard is phenomenal. Pick up and drop off were timely, but I also didn't get through the whole exhibition. People asked questions some but not all were answered. Tour guide was nice.
